Greg Wrightstone, a geologist and climate expert, was banned from LinkedIn for expressing his opinion and providing data on the platform debunking the notion of “man-made catastrophic warming.”
LinkedIn labeled his posts, which were receiving thousands of views, as “misleading,” “False,” and a type of content that “is not allowed.”
“When the things were labeled false and misleading, I said, ‘OK, I’m a geologist, degreed geologist, expert reviewer for IPCC. Those are my qualifications. What are the qualifications of the reviewers?’ And of course, they would never respond to that,” Wrighstone said in an interview with The Daily Signal.
Before too long, the scientist was permanently banned by the platform.
“I think I was too successful promoting the science, the facts, and the data that dispute this notion of man-made catastrophic warming,” Wrightstone said. “I posted very interesting and very scientific, but interesting, charts and facts on temperature data through time, [carbon dioxide’s] relationship with temperature to show that—and I’m a geologist—throughout geologic time, that CO2 really hasn’t been the control knob of the Earth’s climate.”
“I would post things and I’d get 20,000-25,000 views within 24 hours, getting a huge number of people signing up to connect with me,” he described. “They started taking down my posts.”
“Again, this is material that’s from [the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration], NASA. I’ve been accepted as an expert reviewer for the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change. So, I’m part of that process. I’ve been recognized as an expert on climate, I just disagree with some of the conclusions on what the science says,” he stated. “And I posted this science, and as I would post it, it would be removed. They said it’s false and misleading.”
“The last post that I had, I stated, ‘It appears that I’ve been targeted by the LinkedIn overseers for elimination and de-platforming.’ I predicted that I was going to be de-platformed and banned on LinkedIn,” he explained. “They said it was false and misleading, and then they de-platformed me. You don’t know whether to laugh or cry when it comes to things like this. It’s just part of this cancel culture.”
Wrightstone then attempted to appeal to LinkedIn, insisting he only posts “factually correct information.” Within 24 Hours the platform responded by saying they would not revoke the ban, adding, “this type of content is not allowed.”
“We’re dangerous. They cannot allow our factually-based presentations to get out to the public, because what we say makes sense and it’s backed up by science. We’re rational, thoughtful people that are scientists, that are distinguished scientists, and we’re presenting this information. They cannot do it. I look at this on a daily basis and there’s no way to sugarcoat it. Your listeners are being lied to on a daily basis about climate change and its ramifications,” he warned.
LinkedIn is not the only media platform censoring views on climate change that run contrary to the preferred narrative. Facebook, last year announced that it would begin adding “information labels” to posts about global warming to stop the spread of “misinformation.”
Freedom of Speech is now a thing of the past, as big tech social media platforms expand the list of what you can and cannot say.
Questioning election integrity? Nope. Publishing evidence of corruption, specifically surrounding COVID and vaccines? Absolutely not. Sharing Biblical truth and morality? That’s hate speech! Now you can no longer question the shaky “science” that climate change is built upon.
As with every one of these restricted topics, this is not about facts and science. This is about snuffing out the voices that contradict the propaganda that global leaders collectively push.
Much like the COVID-19 pandemic, many are also watching to see if Climate Change will become the next “global crisis” exploited by world powers to snatch more freedoms from its citizens.
Last Fall, Mastercard partnered with the United Nations on a credit card that monitors CO2 based on purchases and cuts access to funds once the cardholder’s emissions max is reached.
Similarly, the Government in the UK is reportedly considering introducing a new toll system for all roads for the purpose of fighting climate change. The road pricing system if put in place will likely give 3,000 miles free per year, with the toll price kicking in after that point, with an extra 1,000 miles given to those in rural areas. Some have warned that the road pricing system “would probably use vehicle tracking technology to monitor” how much people in the UK drive.
This push to begin limiting freedoms and placing penalties on citizens, for the purpose of “fighting climate change,” should be concerning. Such moves might have received more pushback prior to society becoming desensitized to similar overreach by both Governments and companies.
Answers In Genesis explained that, despite public perceptions, the majority of climate scientists do not believe we are in a “climate crisis.”
“In reality, only a small sampling of climate scientists believe we are facing imminent doom,” the AiG article explained. “Furthermore, thousands of scientists with climate-related degrees have sent letters and signed petitions arguing against a climate crisis, further emphasizing that the scientific community can’t reach a consensus on the issue.”
“So why all the insistence on anxiety and panic?” the article urged.
“Secular scientists approach the climate debate from an unbiblical perspective, believing that humans alone manage the rising temperatures,” AiG insisted. “Certainly when we have clear evidence that we are abusing creation, we should take actions to correct it. But Christians know that God designed our magnificently complex climate and has promised that the present earth will be inhabitable until he creates a new heaven and a new earth (Isaiah 65:17).”
Christian author Terry James explained that “climate worship” is fast becoming a new global religion.
James described the religious parallels, including the insistence that climate change “deniers” or “nonbelievers” be “branded as heretics.”
Christianity, James stated, runs in direct opposition “to the unimpeachable declarations of the environmental gurus who say man is destroying the earth with greenhouse gases from carbon emission” and “only man, himself, through draconian actions to stop these deadly gases, can save himself from choking to death from unbreathable air or drowning because of the melting ice of the North and South poles.”
“The Bible declares that Jesus Christ, who is the very Word of God (John 1:1–3), is who has this earthly orb in His grip. It is not man who controls planet earth,” he urged.
