In 1986, Holocaust survivor Elie Wiesel received the Nobel Peace Prize, recognizing his efforts to defend human rights and peace; something he dedicated the rest of his life trying to achieve. During his acceptance speech, he uttered the words that still resonate today: โWe must always take sides. Neutrality helps the oppressor, never the victim.โ Back then, taking sides meant coming alongside the victims. Those were the days!
He was a teenager when, at Buchenwald, his father died in front of his eyesโnot to mention his mother and younger sister, who died in Auschwitz. Wiesel became an advocate against xenophobia and antisemitism and remained a voice to promote the memory of the Jewish catastrophe until his last day. He is the author of many books on the topic, including “Night,” written in 1956 and translated into 30 languages. Wiesel was a mensch and deserved the Nobel Peace Prize. Forty years ago, the Norwegian Nobel Committee still had integrity.
Then in 1994, to my utmost surprise, the Nobel Peace Prize was awarded to terrorist Yasser Arafat. It was a joint prize given to him and Israeli leaders, Shimon Peres and Yitzhak Rabin, for their efforts “to bring peace in the Middle East.” Months prior to them receiving the prize, Arafat and Rabin were seen on the White House lawn, shaking hands in the presence of then-US President Bill Clinton. The world held its breath; the Middle East was on its way to peace for the first time in history, or was it?
That was almost thirty years ago, and the Palestinian narrative had taken deep roots in the soil of Western civilization already blinded by suicidal tolerance. The Nobel Committee was already drinking the Palestinian proverbial Kool-Aid, and was woke, way before woke was a thing. They described Arafat in terms that softened the man he really was. Whitewashing was in effect:
“Arafat grew up in Cairo and Jerusalem. He took part in the war against the new state of Israel in 1948, when many Palestinians were expelled. As a qualified engineer, he took a job in Kuwait. From there, he organized the guerrilla group Fatah, which attacked Israel. Following Israel’s occupation of the West Bank and Gaza in 1967, Arafat became the leader of the PLO (Palestine Liberation Organization), an umbrella organization for Palestinian guerrilla groups. The groups resorted to terror to attract world attention, but it gradually became clear to Arafat that he would have to accept the state of Israel for the USA to be willing to mediate in the dispute. He approved the meeting of Palestinian negotiators with Israelis at secret negotiations in Oslo.”
Already back then, “terrorists” were “guerrilla soldiers” and Israel was “occupying” the “West Bank.” The simple concept that a terrorist and leader of murderous people could remotely be perceived as a peacemaker belongs to a Twilight Zone episode about the Nobel Peace Prize.
In 1994, I lost respect for the Nobel Prize organization. This is not to say that none of the recipients from 1994 to today didn’t deserve their accolades and global recognition, but, like so many things today, the Norwegian Nobel Committee has become very political. Incidentally, years after the 1994 joint Prize given to Arafat and the Israelis, members of the committee expressed their regrets about having given the prize to Shimon Peres and wished they could take it back, based on Israel’s actions after the fact. Arafat, of course, was given “carte blanche” until his death, and his subsequent terrorism was never once put in question.
Fast forward to 2026, and the Peace Prize goes to Navi Pillay, 85, born in Durban, South Africa, who served as an attorney and a judge. Ms. Navi Pillay has certainly contributed to the global village in many ways worthy of recognition, but her recent stint on the Middle East conflict should disqualify herโin a normal world, that is!
In 2020, she signed a manifesto to “Sanction Apartheid Israel.” From 2021-2025, she was the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights and chaired the UN Independent International Commission of Inquiry on the Occupied Palestinian Territory. During her tenure, her commission determined that BOTH Hamas and Israel committed war crimes from October 7, 2023 forward. In 2025, the same commission wrongly declared that Israel was guilty of Genocide in Gaza.
She also said, “It is that there is an intent to destroy the Palestinians in Gaza through acts that meet the criteria set forth in the Genocide Convention.โ
Apparently, you don’t have to commit genocide; all you need to do is conspire, incite, or attempt to commit genocide, and you are guilty all the same. Yet, 60,000 babies have been born in Gaza since October 7, 2023โborn, not killed! The Gaza population has increased by 2.02%โincreased, not decreased! Tons of food come in every day from Israel, and tens of thousands of Palestinian children are receiving free vaccines against Polio. Don’t forget that UNICEF recently had to admit that the numbers showed there was no famine in Gaza. Regardless, Israel’s enemies are still trying to spin the data to fault the Jews.
This sick reality doesn’t hold that Israelis are guilty of genocide, and thus should be stopped, but instead, it starts with Jew-hatred as an assumption, and as a result, it slams a genocide accusation onto Israel and sees if it will stick…and, in our new world of TikTok News bites…it does! Anyone interested in the truth about the Middle East will find out that the very accusers of Genocide in Gaza are those guilty of trying to kill all the Jews. The world we live in is stuck in an inverted reality where Ms. Navi Pillay continues to feed the monster of Judeophobia.
Antisemitism continues to become normalized on so many levels, and it is also gaining momentum to soon become state-sponsored. The 2026 Nobel Peace Prize decision will help that transition further. In a world where good becomes evil and evil is praised, it is hard to be a person of good will, let alone a Christian. The Norwegian Nobel Committee is confident in the integrity of Ms. Pillay, so she is the recipient of the 2026 Nobel Peace Prize. Once again, the narrative wins over facts.
The United Nations is worthless and obsolete, and the Nobel Prize Committee might have joined that woke social club. Next year, maybe all one will have to do is be the holder of the world record for the most time they uttered “Free Palestine” in a year, and they will win. Who knows? Don’t forget that NorwayโWhere the Nobel Prize originated and is still being handledโalso recently tried to pass a law to make purchases from Judea and Samaria by anyone illegal and punishable by up to three years in prison.
The Nobel Peace Prize has become weaponized and has become a joke. The peace in its title means absolutely nothing, but the peace that Yeshua brings to the hearts of men and will soon bring to the entire world at His return is a very Noble Peace, and that is a Prize we should all be excited about.
