Killing Disabled Infants?: Canada Is Careening Down A Slope Of Devaluing Human Life

It’s the logical next step for a culture that worships self and loves death: killing disabled infants. It’s just the next consistent (evil) step for those who reject God’s Word.

Comments a Canadian physician made in 2022—which I wrote about at the time—are making the rounds on social media again after they were shared by Campaign Life Coalition during a speech. This physician suggested that Canada’s incredibly expansive euthanasia program (called MAiD, or “medical assistance in dying”) should be further expanded to include infants up to one year old who have “severe deformations” and “very grave . . . medical syndromes.” In other words, if parents missed being able to abort their baby with a disability before birth, no problem—doctors should be able to kill the baby after birth!

Now, this is the logical next step (it’s evil, but it is logical, given Canada’s laws on abortion) as there is no difference in the personhood and value of a baby before they are born and afterward. That baby is exactly the same person—the only thing that has changed is location and level of development. So if you are willing to kill a baby at any stage of development in the womb (on the taxpayers’ dime in Canada), why not kill them after they are born? And they are already promoting euthanasia big time too!

Yes, it’s the logical next step, because abortion completely devalues a human life. Rather than recognizing that each human life has value because he or she is made in the image of God, abortion says your value is dependent on whether or not you are wanted or how convenient or inconvenient your life will be to others. And, of course, euthanasia says the same thing—life only has value if it’s free from suffering or is convenient for others (or convenient for the government to keep paying for your health care!). Abortion and euthanasia are both deadly fruits of the same idol: worship of self.

What I said in my blog post regarding this physicians’ comment back in 2022 is just as applicable today:

Unless there’s a major worldview change, Canada (and the rest of the West) will only continue to careen down this slope of devaluing human life in the name of “choice” and “autonomy.” Why? Well, because Canada is dominated by the religion of [atheistic] humanism. In this view, man is all there is, humans are just animals, man is accountable to no one but self (man is his own god), and personal autonomy (“I can do whatever I want!”) is the highest virtue. So, humanists will continue to legalize anything and everything that gives people “autonomy” no matter how evil, abusive, and deadly it is!

But man is not all there is. There is a God who will hold every person accountable; and while you have the free will to do whatever you want, you will ultimately be judged for your choices unless you repent and allow Jesus’ sacrificial death on the cross to pay your penalty of death for you. Turn to Christ today!

No, man is not all there is. There is a God, and he hates “hands that shed innocent blood” (Proverbs 6:16–17). Those who advocate for and participate in the death of the unborn, newborns, the elderly, the disabled, those with mental illness—and the list of vulnerable groups goes on—stand guilty before God. And their only hope is to have their hearts of stone removed and replaced with hearts of flesh that love, worship, and fear the one true God, not the false god of self. Yes, people need to repent and turn to Christ for the forgiveness of sins!

And don’t let anyone try to claim atheism is not a religion! The evil results of the religion of atheism are seen in the happenings in Canada mentioned above.

The only hope for the nation of Canada—and every other nation—is the truth of God’s Word and the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Does The Fight Over Shariah Law In America Reveal Something Deeper About Our Culture’s Trajectory?

Is the United States Constitution still the supreme law of the land? Should American courts ever recognize a foreign legal system when it conflicts with constitutional rights? Are these merely political questions, or do they reveal something deeper about the direction of our culture and the prophetic trajectory of the world? These questions have returned to the national spotlight as lawmakers debate legislation designed to prevent the application of foreign legal systems that conflict with constitutional protections. While the immediate discussion centers on Sharia law, the broader issue extends far beyond Islam. It touches on national sovereignty, religious liberty, competing legal authorities, and the growing movement toward global convergence.

How Abortion Buffer Zones In Northern Ireland Are Being Used To Stifle Virtually All Christian Expression

Praying, carrying or reading a Bible, or engaging in pastoral ministry or other religious practice could in some cases be illegal in Northern Ireland hospitals that perform abortions, according to guidance from the Policing Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI). The extent of Northern Ireland’s abortion buffer zone law has raised questions in light of the May conviction of Pastor Clive Johnston, who stood on a public sidewalk near a hospital in the city of Coleraine in 2024 and preached a sermon on John 3:16. Although Johnston made no reference to abortion, the court found him guilty of violating Northern Ireland’s “safe access” law.

Called Out From The Culture: The Hope For America Is The Church

I believe that the hope for America is the church—God working through his church. Christians need to live up to their name. As Christ followers, we need to be Christlike. And if the church would be what it was meant to be, then it would change our nation. But let’s localize it. If your church would be what it ought to be, it could change your city. It could change your county, and it could change your state. Let’s localize it even more. If you would be what you ought to be as a follower of Jesus Christ and as a part of the church, then what a difference it could make in your church.
