UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer, of the UK Labor Party, announced on Monday a plan to end what he called the “open borders experiment” in the country. The decision comes as the British public has become increasingly vocal about mass muslim immigration, which has had a destructive impact on their cities, towns, and nation as a whole.
While the changes sound like a step forward on the surface, the new measures are not all they appear to be.
Failing to Address The Root Of The Crisis
While the PM talked tough on “taking back control of UK borders,” his statements and the 82-page report stopped short of mentioning the crux of the problem, which specifically relates to Islamic immigration.
This group holds a religious ideology that is not only opposed to the values of the United Kingdom but also seeks to dismantle Western societies internally, growing more brazen as they gain in number. The bitter fruit of mass Muslim immigration can be seen across the UK, Canada, numerous European nations, and even some American states. Grooming gangs, pro-Palestinian riots, increasingly violent crime, rising antisemitism, and police “no-go zones” are a few of the many ramifications experienced by “open-border” nations.
Without a proper acknowledgment of the problem’s source, the measures proposed by the UK Prime Minister will not go far enough in tackling the crisis.
Starmer, however, has gone out of his way to embrace Islamists. While the Prime Minister stated on Monday that immigration would shift to accommodate those who make “significant contributions” to the nation, only two short months ago, he insisted that “British Muslims contribute to every community in Britain”โa remark called “tone deaf” by citizens grappling with numerous grooming gang scandles and pro-Hamas rallies.
The Prime Minister’s staunch anti-Israel positions have contributed to the friendship between Muslims and the Labor government. As noted by the Hoover Institution, “The leftโs anti-Zionism resonates with Islamist hate in a toxic coalition of anti-Semitism.”
Discarding A Christian Heritage In Favour Of Islamic Ideology
The Labor government has worked to implement new definitions for what qualifies as “Islamophobia.” The alterations to this definition were met with pushback by many, including the Christian Legal Center, which works to safeguard the freedom of Christians in Britain. Christian Concern, an advocacy group of the legal center, sounded the alarm, warning that “the freedom to criticise Islam is being eroded.”
While praising Islam, the UK government has significantly targeted the freedoms of Christians. A prime example is street preacher Ian Sleeper, who was arrested for holding a sign publicly, which stated “Love Muslims, Hate Islam, Jesus is love and hope.” He is one of many Christians who have been arrested for criticizing Islam in the United Kingdom.
Dr. Thomas Fretwell, Pastor of Calvary Chapel Hastings and the Founder of the Ezra Foundation, recently warned that “Britain’s political elite are actively reshaping the nation’s cultural and moral landscape.”
“What was once a nation rooted in Judeo-Christian values now appears eager to discard its Christian heritage in favour of promoting Islamic ideology,” he underscored. “Under the banner of multiculturalism, objections to this shift are swiftly silenced by accusations of ‘Islamophobia’ or ‘far-right’ rhetoric.”
“The United Kingdom stands at a decisive crossroads,” he continued. “One path leads further from its Christian heritage toward ideologies that undermine the foundations of Western civilization itself.”
Measures Are ‘Wholly Inadequate’
Even putting aside the obvious Islamic issue relating to open borders, the measures put forward by the UK Prime Minister still fall short. Independent MP Rupert Lowe asserted that Starmer’s new border policies remain “wholly inadequate.”
“Net migration will remain in the hundreds of thousands for years to come,” Lowe stated. “We don’t just need to stop the flow; we need to start emptying the bath. For the foreseeable future, more people need to be leaving than settling.”
The Quiet Introduction of Mandatory Digital IDs
The UK Prime Minister’s plan slipped in the introduction of digital surveillance measures through mandatory Digital IDs for all “overseas citizens,” which they boast will give people “more control over their documents and data”โand monitor “whether an individual has complied with the terms of their visa and is inside or outside the UK at any given time.”
“This will support operational activities and analysis and enhance our ability to share this information with other Government departments,” the 82-page report states.
While it may seem appropriate to keep close tabs on those trying to immigrate to the UK through such measuresโespecially considering the radical activities and terrorism which have accompanied Muslim immigrationโthe introduction of mandatory digital surveillance is a dangerous stepping stone. The report itself stated that the Digital IDs would be used to “overhaul future data gathering and research.”
Not All It Appears To Be
Undoubtedly, outcry from the British public forced the Labor Government to introduce new border enforcement measures. A significant number of UK citizens may now feel satisfied that action is being taken. Even many conservatives in the UK and internationally have been quick to applaud the Prime Minister’s perceived decisive stance against “open borders” and mass immigration. A deeper dive into the report, however, reveals it is not what it appears to be.
The measures implement feeble policy changes, fail to address the Islamic roots of the crisis, and quietly move the United Kingdom deeper into the clutches of government surveillance. This is not a move against globalism; it is a continuation of the same dangerous, radically left policies.
