Cuba, China, Russia Elected to UN ‘Human Rights Council’; US Brands it a ‘Mockery’

Cuba, China and Russia on Tuesday were elected to the U.N. Human Rights Council — a move that the U.S. branded a “mockery” of the body’s intended purpose and as proof that Washington was right to leave the council in 2018.

The three countries, all with a history of authoritarianism and human rights abuses, were elected by the U.N. General Assembly, along with countries including Bolivia, France, Mexico, Nepal, Pakistan, Senegal, Uzbekistan and the United Kingdom.

“With China, Russia, Cuba & Venezuela as members, the Council makes a mockery of its intended purpose and the Universal Declaration of Human Rights,” she said.

Last year, the U.N. General Assembly elected Libya, Sudan and Venezuela to the Council. Craft called the election of Venezuela, a country dogged by poverty and human rights abuses, an “embarrassment.”

The U.S. has sought to push back against human rights abuses in China in particular, bringing attention to Beijing’s persecution of religious minorities in the Xinjiang province and its crackdown against protesters in Hong Kong. It has imposed a number of sanctions on Chinese officials.

“Our commitments are spelled out clearly in the UN’s Declaration, and in our record of action,” Pompeo said. “The United States is a force for good in the world, and always will be.”

Meanwhile, the Chinese mission welcomed the move, saying it “sincerely appreciates the strong support from the wide UN membership.”

The communist regime went on to pledge to “work with other members to advance the Council’s work of promoting and protecting human rights.

In July, 53 countries at the UN, led by Cuba, came out in support of China’s national security law — a law that has formed the basis of the crackdown on the people of Hong Kong.

HD Editors Note: Why Is This News Biblically Relevant?

Although this news may not be what many think of when the term “lawlessness” is used, the election of heinous human rights violators to a world council intended to hold accountable abusers of human rights is nothing less than lawless.

The Bible says that this lawlessness would characterize the last days. What we are currently witnessing is a foreshadowing of the coming Tribulation where the coming “lawless one,” the antichrist, will rule over a rampantly depraved world government that will be rampantly corrupt.

Knowing that the Bible outlines that the Body of Christ will be Raptured from the earth prior to the Tribulation, Scripture says, when you see these things and signs “begin to come to pass” then we are to “look up, and lift up your heads; for your redemption draweth nigh.” (Luke 21:28)

‘Take Back Our Country’: Anti-Regime Protesters Hack Iranian State TV, Showing Clips Of Exiled Crown Prince

Iran's state television broadcast was hacked amid a near-total internet blackout, with video clips of exiled crown prince Reza Pahlavi and images of ongoing anti-government protests briefly airing on multiple channels. Pahlavi used the opportunity to call on the Iranian military to break with the Islamic Republic and to side with protesters who have been demonstrating against the regime.

Report Finds Support For Religious Liberty In The America Is Stronger Than Ever

“As we celebrate National Religious Freedom Day, it’s encouraging to see that a growing number of Americans reject the idea that faith belongs behind closed doors,” said Rienzi. “The Founders recognized that our nation is stronger when we allow our neighbors to bring their beliefs into the public square without fear, even when those beliefs cut against the grain.”

In An Ever Darkening World, We Can Find Solace In Bible Prophecy

The bright side of the growing evil in the world is that it is a sure sign that we are living in the season of the Lord’s return. If you will check Genesis 6, you will find that Noah’s society was characterized by violence and immorality. This is the reason that the great pastor, Adrian Rogers (1931-2005), once said, “The world is growing gloriously dark.” How can the acceleration of evil be considered “glorious”? Because it is a sign of the imminent return of Jesus.
