Everybody needs light. To work, to study, to cook, to clean – to undertake many of the activities that are required of us, we need light. In God’s design, light is good. Genesis 1:3-4: “And God said, Let there be light: and there was light. And God saw the light, that it was good: and God divided the light from the darkness.” As human beings who have become accustomed to living through the cycle of night and day, it would be foolish to suggest that we live our entire lives in darkness. Yet, in a spiritual sense, that is what many have decided for themselves.
It would be safe to say that the majority of people throughout the world are living in spiritual blindness. On an intellectual level, mankind recognises a degree of this and, as such, seeks to rectify this through the pursuit of knowledge. However, spiritual blindness is not a superficial condition which may be remedied by reading celebrated books, attending colleges, studying philosophy, or learning from revered religious leaders.
Spiritual blindness is a profound and complete blindness to the truth, usually as the result of an individual who chooses to suppress the truth in unrighteousness (Romans 1:18). In addition to that, we have a spiritual enemy who not only works to keep men in darkness, but he puts forward a counterfeit light to deceive those who are not content to remain in darkness.
So, this begs the question: amongst all of the deception in our world, how is man able to discern between a counterfeit light and the true light? Well, I submit to you that a counterfeit light will be supported by lies whilst a true light will be supported by truth. So, when you turn to the Word of Truth, consider these points in relation to light:
· It is associated with God’s Word. Psalm 119:105: “Your word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path.”
· It is associated with salvation. Psalm 27:1: “The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear?”
· It is associated with God’s commandments. Proverbs 6:23: “For the commandment is a lamp, and the law a light.”
· It is associated with life. Psalm 56:13: “For You have delivered my soul from death. Have You not kept my feet from falling, that I may walk before God in the light of the living?”
· It is associated with truth. Psalm 43:3: “Oh, send out Your light and Your truth!”
One of the movements that Satan has used to great effect in order to introduce a counterfeit light is the New Age Movement. This Movement has its roots in Eastern mysticism, which attempts to bypass the mind. That should be your first clue that something is wrong, particularly in light of Romans 12:2: “And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.” So instead of the mind, New Age adherents supposedly rely on a new organ of perception – the third eye – which, according to them, gives spiritual light. According to one adherent: “The Third Eye is a receiver of light. You are light”.

Shirley MacLaine (yes, the famed actress) wrote two books in relation to New Age belief. Her first, Out on a Limb, chronicles her reluctant conversation to the practice. In this book, she describes her travels and studies, which includes science fiction-like dimensions, out-of-body travel, contact with extraterrestrial beings, “trance channeling” and a “guided tour” of the unseen world. In her second book, Dancing in the Light, she recounts her experience in the world of yoga, reincarnation, crystal power, Hindu mantras and past-life recall experiences mediated through acupuncture.
In his 1901 book, Cosmic Consciousness, psychiatrist Richard Maurice Bucke expressed his view that cosmic consciousness is “a higher form of consciousness than that possessed by the ordinary man”. Bucke gathered 36 examples of people he believed had attained this “cosmic consciousness,” including historical figures such as Buddha, Dante, Moses, and Jesus. According to Bucke, the main characteristics of cosmic consciousness are: joyfulness; a revelation of the meaning, purpose and aliveness of the universe; a sense of immortality; a loss of fear of death; and an absence of the concept of sin.
Unbeknownst to many Australians (including me) is that the Inaugural Cosmic Consciousness Conference was held in Australia from 12 to 14 January 2018. It was held in central Australia at a location that our indigenous population call “Uluru”. According to the organisers of the event they “have chosen this World Heritage listed site, commonly referred to as the spiritual heart of Australia, for its significant energetic and spiritual importance – on many levels.”
As nonsensical as New Age teachings are, I believe their beliefs will really come to the fore after the rapture of the church. New Ager Barbara Marciniak wrote the following in her book “Bringers of the Dawn”:
Earth is a sentient being, or collection of beings. The sentient beings that make up Earth came into this collective of consciousness out of love for the unity of this consciousness and desire to experience being a home for consciousness. When Earth is in jeopardy and humanity has pushed things too far, Earth will do whatever is necessary to teach the human species about the proper care of its home, in order for you as the inhabitants to learn a bigger lesson. This inevitably leads to the overwhelming probability of Earth doing some major changes in order to capture the consciousness of human beings and point out to them what they are missing. If 20 million people disappeared in an afternoon because of an Earth change, perhaps the other humans would wake up. Perhaps. The people who leave the planet during the time of Earth changes do not fit here any longer, and they are stopping the harmony of Earth. When the time comes that perhaps 20 million people leave the planet at one time, there will be a tremendous shift in consciousness for those who are remaining. When a large group passes over together, they create an impact on the consciousness of those who remain.
Even more eye-opening is another New Age book called “Project World Evacuation”. Listen closely to this quote: “Phase 1 of the global evacuation will come as the twinkling of an eye, with no time for any prewarning of any significance.” Let me just interject with the words of 1 Corinthians 15:51-52 so you understand the reference: “Behold, I tell you a mystery: We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed – in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet.”
Back to the quote from Project World Evacuation:
It will be a secret taking away of spiritual leaders and teachers of the Light workers, but not those of the Special Legion who will remain until the last phase is completed….In this covert rescue they will be invisibly levitated by beam to smaller ships that wait, on which they will be transported to the great Mother Ships anchored high in the atmosphere. Again, it was repeated for emphasis, Phase 1 will remove all of the Earth Volunteers on assignment except those of the Special Legion who remain, highly protected, till all evacuation is complete. It was stressed that it was impossible for them to state or give a figure of how many will participate in any of the removals because of the constant fluctuating population of the planet through death or intervention of Human Will, and the opening of the chakras of the new ones. As mentioned earlier, there will be no landing areas for Phase 1. They will be overhead and none will land….all over the globe where events warrant it, this will be the method of evacuation. Mankind will be lifted, levitated shall we say, by the beams of our smaller Scout Craft. These smaller craft will in turn taxi the persons to the larger Mother Ships overhead, higher in the atmosphere, where there is ample space and quarters and supplies for millions of people.
But as if to offer some kind of false hope to those who have been left behind, the book goes on to say this:
Do not be concerned nor unduly upset if you do not participate in this first temporary lift-up of souls who serve with us. This merely means that your action in the plan is elsewhere, and you will be taken for your instructions or will receive them in some other manner. Do not take any personal affront if you are not alerted or are not a participant in this first phase of our plan. Your time will come later, and these instructions are not necessary for you at this time.
The New Age Movement is a counterfeit light and is extremely dangerous. In addition, New Age teachers are becoming very wealthy without contributing in any significant way to the alleviation of human suffering and unhappiness – and all the while, not making much sense at all.
God, on the other hand, is not the author of confusion. He has stated very clearly in John 8:12: “Then Jesus spoke to them again, saying, ‘I am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life.'”
If you are stepping in the counterfeit light of the New Age Movement, my advice is simple: get out. They may speak of Jesus but He is not the true Jesus of the Bible. Throw out the New Age books, open the Word of God and ask Him to reveal the true Light of the World to you.
