The United States on Thursday moved to block a Security Council resolution that sought to recommend the recognition of “Palestine” as a full UN member state.
The resolution, which asserted that “Palestine fulfills membership criteria” and needed nine favorable votes and no vetos to succeed, garnered alarming support with 12 approvals from Russia, China, France, Japan, South Korea, and Algeria—the nation that proposed the resolution.
Israeli envoy Gilad Erdan thanked the United States for “thwarting the unilateral move to impose a Palestinian terrorist state,” which he underscored was a stand for “truth and morality in the face of hypocrisy and politics.”
Erdan further highlighted the absurdity of calling Palestinians and the PA “peace-loving” while they provide payments to terrorists for the slaughter of Israelis.
“Most of you decided to reward Palestinian terror with [a] Palestinian State,” he stressed. “I pray that the day will come when you understand the magnitude of the mistake you are making here. I pray that you will understand before it is too late.”
Important update: I have now left the Security Council after it voted in favor of recognizing a Palestinian state. The United States vetoed the Council’s destructive move. 𝗜 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗸 𝘁𝗵𝗲 @USUN 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗣𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗕𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗻 @POTUS 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗯𝗼𝘁𝘁𝗼𝗺 𝗼𝗳… pic.twitter.com/B3FhkhTJAm

A recent poll conducted in March by the Palestinian Center for Policy and Survey Research (PCPSR) also contradicted the claim of “peace-loving” Palestinians, with 71% in Gaza and the West Bank approving of Hamas’ massacre of over 1,200 Israelis on October 7th, and nearly 60% disapproving of peace negotiations with Israel.
Following the vote, Russia lamented the failure to pass the anti-Israel resolution.
“Are the Palestinians worth being part of the global family?” they asked, calling the US veto a “hopeless attempt to stop the inevitable course of history.”
The so-called “State of Palestine,” which is currently classified as a “Permanent Observer,” lambasted Israel after the veto, calling it an “occupying,” “ethnic cleansing,” and “colonial Power.”
As Christian author Hal Lindsey previously noted, “In recent years, Israel has been depicted in the media as a rogue state, flaunting international law… But that simply isn’t true. International law gives them clear rights to all of the land.”
“For those who believe the Bible, this issue shouldn’t even be a question,” Lindsey continued. “God gave title deed to the Holy Land to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. He reaffirmed it again and again. In this case, there’s no conflict between international law and God’s law. If you say you believe the Bible, it should be obvious. God gave the Holy Land to the Jews forever!”
According to NPR, 140 of the 193 UN member states—over 70%—support the creation of a Palestinian state. Last January, the European Union’s top diplomat, Josep Borrell, brazenly insisted that a Palestinian state may need to be “imposed on Israel from outside.”
Even though the United States vetoed the resolution, the Biden administration remains vocal in its desire for a Palestinian State to be formed by way of a two-state solution—which would see Jerusalem, the capital of Israel, divided and partially given to people who actively seek the annihilation of Israel.
Through the prophet Zechariah in the Old Testament, God warned the nations of the world regarding the dire consequences of seeking to divide Jerusalem, writing, “in that day will I make Jerusalem a burdensome stone for all people: all that burden themselves with it shall be cut in pieces, though all the people of the earth be gathered together against it.”
