As the US and Israel pound the Iranian regime, there is one question looming over people’s minds: Will the Iranian regime fall?
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu addressed this on March 12th at his first press conference since the beginning of the war. Arutz Sheva (Israel National News), reported:
During the press conference, Netanyahu addressed Hezbollah’s attacks on Israel and stated that the Iranian proxy terror group would “pay a very heavy price.”
“This is no longer the same Iran, this is no longer the same Middle East, and this is also not the same Israel. We initiate and attack with force. Trump and I talk almost every day, exchange ideas and advice, and decide together,” Netanyahu said.
“We are crushing Iran and Hezbollah,” Netanyahu declared, adding, “We are becoming a regional power. Our roar is growing louder. We have achieved enormous achievements that are changing the balance of power beyond the Middle East.”
“Threats come and go, but we are strengthening our power compared to what was here,” the prime minister added. “Tomorrow they will be even weaker – both Iran and Hezbollah. We are changing the Middle East. Both against enemies and against friends. Israel is stronger than ever, the whole world understands that.”
He referred to the appointment of Ali Khamenei’s son as Iran’s supreme leader after his father’s assassination. “We have eliminated the old dictator, and the new dictator, the puppet of the Revolutionary Guards, cannot show his face in public. I say to the people of Iran: The moment is approaching when you can embark on the path of freedom. It is in your hands.”
However, he added that he cannot guarantee “that the Iranian regime will collapse…”
Ultimately, no one knows for sure if the Iranian regime will indeed fall, but President Trump did tell the Iranian people that “help is on the way” as he moved US military assets into the region. Israel and the US together have been hammering the Iranian regime’s military infrastructure so that Iran is no longer a threat for years to come. On Thursday, the 20th day of the joint operation, Netanyahu declared that “Iran can no longer enrich uranium and produce more ballistic missiles.”
“We are winning, and Iran is being decimated,” Netanyahu stressed. “Iran’s missile and drone arsenal is being massively degraded and will be destroyed. Hundreds of their launchers have been destroyed, their stockpiles of missiles are being hit hard, and so are the industries that produce them.”
However, decimating Iran’s arsenal, leadership, and nuclear ambitions alone won’t guarantee regime change. That will come only through the people, the military, and the police collectively turning against the IRGC and against all of the remaining Iranian leadership.
Netanyahu reiterated one of the operation’s primary goals on Thursday, emphasizing the US and Israel’s objective to “create the conditions for the Iranian people” to take control of their nation and unseat the regime in Tehran.
The former Shah’s son, Crown Prince Reza Pahlavi, says he is ready to lead Iran the day the regime falls. In a recent interview with 60 Minutes, which was also shared on President Trump’s Truth Social account, the Crown Prince weighed in on whether regime change is possible:
Interviewer: This is video overnight after the announcement of the death of the ayatollah in the city of Isfahan. What does that mean to you?
Reza Pahlavi: That means that– finally we are ready to go back to the streets even though I have cautioned them that for now, you’d better take care of your own safety and stay at home. The time will come to go back on the streets. But then again, you see that despite that, people still are brave enough to say, “To hell with it. ‘Cause to us it’s liberation. To us, it’s like a humanitarian intervention to protect lives that could otherwise continue to be lost. It gives the Iranian people a real opportunity now when they see the end of this regime that is– was always bound to collapse, whether there was an intervention or not. I want to make sure your audience understands that. That we were prepared to fight the fight. There was too much blood between us and this regime. We were committed to fight regardless of outside intervention. They’re thanking President Trump for actually standing on his word and acting upon his word.
Interviewer: Do you actually believe this regime could fall after almost 50 years?
Reza Pahlavi: Of course.
Time will tell whether or not the regime in Iran will fall—but even if it does, that shift will not change what God’s Word says is coming.
In View Of Ezekiel 38
The Bible, in Ezekiel 38, tells us that Persia (modern-day Iran) will yet again come against the nation of Israel. They will be part of a future coalition led by Russia, along with Turkey, Sudan, and Libya. During this future invasion, it won’t be the actions of the United States and Israel that defend against the enemy forces; it will be the God of Israel—and Him alone—that will defend His chosen people.
Ezekiel 38:8 sets the stage: “After many days you will be visited. In the latter years you will come into the land of those brought back from the sword and gathered from many people on the mountains of Israel, which had long been desolate; they were brought out of the nations, and now all of them dwell safely.”
This verse speaks of the Jewish people returning to the land, which occurred on May 14th, 1948, with the re-establishment of the State of Israel. This prophetic war will occur between this coalition and the modern Jewish State. The text also explains that there will be a time in the future when Israel will “dwell safely.” I believe that is likely referring to the very early parts of the Tribulation period, though some will put it before the Tribulation.
Verse nine says that this invasion is going to “ascend, coming like a storm, covering the land like a cloud, you and all your troops and many peoples with you.”
The text continues, “Thus says the Lord God: On that day it shall come to pass that thoughts will arise in your mind, and you will make an evil plan: You will say, I will go up against a land of unwalled villages; I will go to a peaceful people, who dwell safely, all of them dwelling without walls, and having neither bars nor gates’— to take plunder and to take booty, to stretch out your hand against the waste places that are again inhabited, and against a people gathered from the nations, who have acquired livestock and goods, who dwell in the midst of the land” (V. 8-12).
In verse thirteen, we read that there will be nations that will protest this invasion; from the regions of the ancient names provided, we know that among these will be Saudi Arabia and the Gulf states.
This is the judgment that comes upon the coalition of nations—Russia, Iran, Turkey, and others:“And it will come to pass at the same time, when Gog [the Russian leader] comes against the land of Israel, says the Lord God, that My fury will show in My face. For in My jealousy and in the fire of My wrath I have spoken: Surely in that day there shall be a great earthquake in the land of Israel, so that the fish of the sea, the birds of the heavens, the beasts of the field, all creeping things that creep on the earth, and all men who are on the face of the earth shall shake at My presence. The mountains shall be thrown down, the steep places shall fall, and every wall shall fall to the ground. I will call for a sword against Gog throughout all My mountains, says the Lord God. Every man’s sword will be against his brother. And I will bring him to judgment with pestilence and bloodshed; I will rain down on him, on his troops, and on the many peoples who are with him, flooding rain, great hailstones, fire, and brimstone. Thus I will magnify Myself and sanctify Myself, and I will be known in the eyes of many nations. Then they shall know that I am the Lord.”
Judgment time is coming one day against those who, in this future war, are going to once again try to invade the Land of Israel and take her riches—and that includes Iran.
The Iranian people are rejoicing at the possibility of regime change, and we are praying that they will have peace and freedom after 47 years of persecution by the Ayatollahs. And yet, we are reminded from Scripture that, even if the regime falls and peace prevails for a time, there is still coming a day in which Iran will try one last time to come against Israel—and they will utterly be destroyed by the God of Israel, who neither sleeps nor slumbers.
