Onlookers And Bad Actors: How The War In Iran Is Setting The Stage For A Future Prophetic Battle

There are several geopolitical and prophetic implications of the current war in Iran. One major impact is that it is surfacing and strengthening the alliances that are presented in the Bible in Ezekiel chapter 38.

This chapter in the Bible tells us that in the end times, when Israel is at rest and living securely, they are going to be invaded by a coalition of nations. If you look at the location of these ancient places on a modern map, it’s very clear that the main leaders at the core of this coalition are Russia, Iran, and Turkey.

With this growing alliance between these nations, the stage is being set for this future invasion detailed by the prophet Ezekiel.

Who are the two nations raising the strongest objections to the US-Israeli operation in Iran? Russia and Turkey. In fact, Forbes magazine published an article on Sunday titled, “Iran’s Leadership Decapitated โ€” Turkey Will Define What Comes Next.”

“Of all the regional actors watching Tehran this weekend, Turkey stands apart,” they wrote. “No other state has the same depth of contact with what remains inside Iran.”

Turkey has, in no uncertain terms, condemned the US-Israeli strikes against Iran, with full support of the Ayatollah regime. It seems this war is going to give Turkey even greater influence in the region.

Years ago, Iran and Russia wielded significant influence in Syria. After their evacuation, Turkey has filled the vacuum, seizing every opportunity to gain more control.

As one of their strongest allies, Russia has also strongly condemned the war against Iran. Just one year ago, Russia signed a 20-year strategic partnership with Iran.

Not only is the alliance of Ezekiel 38’s invading force strengthening, so too are the ‘onlookers’ detailed in this prophecy.

In Ezekiel 38:13, it says that when Russia, Iran, and Turkey invade Israel in the end times, there will be a group of nations that remain on the sidelines, giving a lame protest to the invasion. These nations are listed as “Sheba, Dedan, the merchants of Tarshish, and all their young lions.” Tarshish was in Spain, far to the West of Israel in the Middle Eastโ€”likely speaking of Western powers. Sheba and Dedan refer to the modern Gulf states.

During the war, Iran has continuously been firing missiles toward the Gulf States, further alienating these nations. The six-country Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) just held a meeting considering a military response against Iran.

It is easy to imagine a time when the West will stay on the sidelines when an attack is waged on Israel. In large part, that is exactly what we see happening now, with many European nations already staying clear of the conflict. It is also easy to imagine Gulf states being unwilling to join forces with Russia, Iran, and Turkey for this future invasion of the nation of Israel.

All the alliances presented in Ezekiel 38 are being hardened and cemented today, setting the stage for what is coming.

Let us be praying for protection for our troops, many of whom are in harm’s way. Let’s be praying for the nation of Israel. Let’s also be praying for our precious brothers and sisters in Christ in Iran.

America has seen many changes over the last 250 years. Through the tumultuous storms of war and the shifting sands of culture, our country has navigated countless trying times. While our current struggles suggest that America has lost its way, the foundational values embedded into the fabric of this nation stand the test of time. The Founding Fathers dreamed of a place where all people could live in true freedom. This could be possible only in a country built upon Biblical values. Billy Graham once said, โ€œAmerica has probably been the most successful experiment in history. The American Dream was a glorious attempt. It was built on a religious foundation. Its earliest concepts came from Holy Scripture.โ€

You see, people want content creators to be honest, but the concept of honesty comes from a Biblical worldview, which most people in our culture today reject. In a secular worldview, there is no moral imperative to be honestโ€”as long as you are getting what you want, why be honest? The end justifies the means!
