In a show of blatant political corruption, the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) on Monday conducted a raid at Mar-a-Lago, the home of former President Donald Trump.
The pre-dawn raid was described by the 45th president in a statement, who said that the actions of the FBI demonstrated that America has become “corrupt at a level not seen before.”
“These are dark times for our Nation, as my beautiful home, Mar-A-Lago in Palm Beach, Florida, is currently under siege, raided, and occupied by a large group of FBI agents,” he described in the statement. “Nothing like this has ever happened to a President of the United States before.”
“After working and cooperating with the relevant Government agencies, this unannounced raid on my home was not necessary or appropriate,” Trump asserted. “It is prosecutorial misconduct, the weaponization of the Justice System, and an attack by Radical Left Democrats who desperately don’t want me to run for President in 2024, especially based on recent polls, and who will likewise do anything to stop Republicans and Conservatives in the upcoming Midterm Elections.”
“Such an assault could only take place in broken, Third-World Countries. Sadly, America has now become one of those countries, corrupt at a level not seen before,” he lamented.
“I stood up to America’s bureaucratic corruption, I restored power to the people, and truly delivered for our Country, like we have never seen before. The establishment hated it,” Trump continued. “The lawlessness, political persecution, and Witch Hunt must be exposed and stopped. I will continue to fight for the Great American people!”
The FBI justified its actions by claiming that the former president had taken classified documents from the White House to his Mar-a-Lago home at the end of his term.
Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi responded to the lawless raid by celebrating in an interview with MSNBC, stating that “no one is above the law, not even a president or a former president of the United States.”
Pelosi’s comments, however, ignore the numerous people within the Democrat Party who have operated outside of what the law allows without being held accountable. As many have pointed out following the raid, Hillary Clinton is a primary example.
Mike Pompeo, former Secretary of State during the Trump administration, noted this contrast in treatment, calling the FBI’s actions dangerous and shameful.
“Executing a warrant against ex-POTUS is dangerous,” Pompeo, who served as CIA Director from 2017–2018, stressed. “The apparent political weaponization of DOJ/FBI is shameful. AG must explain why 250 yrs of practice was upended [with] this raid. I served on Benghazi Com where we proved Hilliary possessed classified info. We didn’t raid her home.”
Former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee decried the FBI, but cautioned Trump supporters not to “take the bait.”
“Yesterday’s abuse of power by the FBI was so egregious that it seems likely to be a calculated provocation, to goad us into reacting in a way that gives them an excuse to crack down even more on conservatives as domestic terrorists,” he warned. “They would LOVE for you to do that. So, whatever you do, DON’T TAKE THE BAIT.”
“It seemed in 2016 to be just a handful of rogue FBI and DOJ officials,” Huckabee continued. “But we now know beyond doubt, with the shameful pre-dawn raid by 30+ FBI agents on former President Donald Trump’s Mar-A-Lago home to confiscate 15 boxes of materials, that it’s a systemic, methodical, highly orchestrated attempt to shut half the country completely out.”
“Only if evidence might be destroyed is a raid justified. Also, they would’ve needed a special warrant to enter Trump’s safe, but they did it, anyway. They wanted to create the illusion that there’s something criminal about Trump. The criminality is with the Department of ‘Justice,’” he insisted. “Yes, criminality.”
“The chilling event that occurred yesterday –- the most flagrant abuse of power I’ve seen in America in my lifetime –- comes after months and months –- years, actually –- of revelations about how dirty the FBI has been, playing with political enemies while letting political buddies off the hook for almost unbelievable corruption: Hillary’s blatant obstruction of justice and destruction of evidence,” Huckabee wrote. “Her role in starting the whole Trump-Russia hoax. Obvious influence peddling by the Biden family. Their own participation in election interference in 2016, 2020, and now the upcoming elections.”
“You don’t have to be a part of Trump’s so-called base to know: The abuse of power taking place now absolutely cannot stand. If this doesn’t show us how seriously twisted the justice system is in 2022 America, nothing ever will,” he concluded.
God’s Outpouring of Righteous Accountability
Jesus stated in Matthew 24:12 that in the time prior to His return lawlessness/iniquity would “abound” in the world. The word “iniquity” in this verse comes from the Greek word “anomia,” which carries an intriguing meaning in light of the lawlessness we are witnessing today. “Anomia” means to be without law. More specifically, to be in a state in which laws exist but are flagrantly violated.
Additionally, the apostle Paul warned that in the last days “men of corrupt minds” would seek to restrain and hinder the truth (2 Timothy 3:8-9).
From a Christian Perspective, many might ask why God appears to allow the corrupt and lawless to prosper in their wicked actions.
King David in the Bible expressed this same frustration, asking the Lord why the ungodly are met with success.
Psalm 73 states, “Behold, these are the ungodly, who prosper in the world; they increase in riches. Verily I have cleansed my heart in vain, and washed my hands in innocency. For all the day long have I been plagued, and chastened every morning… When I thought to know this, it was too painful for me; Until I went into the sanctuary of God; then understood I their end. Surely thou didst set them in slippery places: thou castedst them down into destruction.” (12-14, 16-18)
Similarly, in our generation, God has also provided us assurance that He, Himself, will respond and put an end to the corruption in our world through the pouring of his wrath on mankind during the seven-year tribulation (from which the Church is absent), culminating in the second coming of Christ.
2 Timothy 3:8-9 states that these corrupt minds “shall proceed no further” and “their folly shall be manifest unto all men.”
The lawlessness prevalent today indicates that God’s outpouring of righteous accountability is close on the horizon. His cup of wrath is filling up.
Franklin Graham, discussing the lawlessness of our society, underscored that “God’s justice and holiness demand that evil be punished, not just here and now but in the eternal state as well.”
“Upon His glorious return, our Lord Jesus Christ will mete out judgment for those who have refused His gracious offer of salvation and instead lived as rebels on earth,” he explained.
“In God’s mercy for sin-stained humanity, His justice was executed upon His one and only Son at the cross,” Graham noted. “The punishment for our sins was completed, so that we who believe on His Name might no longer be condemned. ‘For Christ also suffered once for sins, the righteous for the unrighteous, that he might bring us to God’ (1 Peter 3:18).”
