During the 2022 National Teacher of the Year event held Wednesday at the White House, President Joe Biden repeatedly told teachers that children in their classrooms should be considered “yours” and “not somebody else’s children.”
“You have heard me say it many times about our children, but it is true, they’re all our children,” Biden claimed. “And the reason you are the teachers of the year is because you recognize that. They’re not somebody else’s children. They’re like yours when they’re in the classroom.”
Biden emphasized that teachers have an “obligation to help them reach their potential.” Although that may sound rather innocuous, those words carry a different connotation when considering the controversial statement Biden made last month.
As Harbingers Daily previously reported, during Biden’s State of the Union address, he blasphemously stated his desire for children to reach their “God-given potential” through encouragement to transition their genders.
“As I said last year, especially to our younger transgender Americans, I will always have your back as your President, so you can be yourself and reach your God-given potential,” Biden told the audience in his address.
Certainly, the Biden administration, and the left as a whole, see great potential in the opportunity to hoist their agendas upon impressionable young minds. It is precisely this unethical objective that has gotten school boards in trouble with many parents and even some teachers.
Parents Standing Up
Last year, parents began standing up en-masse at school board meetings, confronting the sexualization of children, gender ideology, critical race theory, and other anti-Biblical agendas.
In August, Laura Morris a teacher in Loudon County credited God for giving her the courage to resign.
At the school board meeting Morris declared: “School board, I quit. I quit your policies, I quit your trainings, and I quit being a cog in a machine that tells me to push highly politicized agendas on our most vulnerable constituents, the children. I will find employment elsewhere. I encourage all parents and staff in this county to flood the private schools.”
Since that time, more information has come out about how children are being manipulated by teachers and school staff into becoming involved in harmful and sinful lifestyles.
Multiple lawsuits have been filed by parents who discovered that teachers and school officials were having meetings with their children encouraging them to gender transitions and keeping it a secret.
One disturbing example surrounded a 12-year-old Florida girl who, after “months of secret meetings about her gender identity” with the school, attempted to hang herself in the school’s bathrooms on two separate occasions.
The young girl’s parents were notified after her second suicide attempt, and filed a lawsuit in January against the school district.
Additionally, another mother confronted her local school board after her mentally challenged son committed suicide. She charged that her son’s death occurred due to the school’s teachings on critical race theory.
“My son Robert took his life because he thought that all of the oppression was his fault,” the Virginia mother said. “No one wants you to stop teaching black history, but please do not do it in a way that makes his life worth any less.”
The assertion that parents and state teachers share partial ownership over children caused Ken Ham, the founder of Answers In Genesis, to pen an important article titled, “Who Owns Children?”
“Who ‘owns’ the children—parents or the government? In our day and age, many involved in western government believe it’s the government that owns kids,” he described. “Many believe they know what is best for children and think they should get to dictate what children learn—and parents are just in the way of accomplishing the state’s goals.”
“And that shouldn’t surprise us because how you answer the question of ‘Who owns the children?’ depends on your starting point and the worldview you build that’s based on that starting point,” he explained.
Parental Rights Were Established By God
“If you reject God and his Word, then anything goes—there’s no absolute standard on which to base your thinking. In this view, children are just biological machines, the product of millions of years of evolution. They aren’t given to parents—they are just a ‘choice’ parents made,” Ham continued. “But when we start with God’s Word, we learn that children are a gift from God—given to parents. He has given parents authority over their children and the responsibility of training, teaching, and raising children. They are not just “choices,” nor are they the government’s responsibility—children are parent’s responsibility because God gave children to their parents to train them up for him.”
“You see, the family unit didn’t evolve. God created the family when he created marriage (Genesis 1:27 and Gen. 2:24) and told the first couple to be fruitful and multiply (Genesis 1:28),” he underscored. “He entrusted children to parents to raise them in accord with the principles he has laid down for us in his Word (e.g., Psalm 127:3).”
The Biden Administration’s attack on parental rights is yet another example of the left’s rejection of God’s design and devotion to placing their ideology ahead of the welling being of your children.
