Severe Storms Rip Through The Midwest: Chaplains Offer Support To Communities In Indiana And Illinois

CONTRIBUTING PUBLISHER

Earlier this week, severe weather caused deadly tornadoes that left a trail of destruction across several Midwestern states. The tornadoes killed an elderly couple in Lake Village, Indiana, and left others trapped or injured.

The Billy Graham Rapid Response Team (BG-RRT) is sending chaplains to some of the hardest-hit areas in Kankakee County, Illinois, and Newton County, Indiana.

โ€œStorms like these leave more than physical damageโ€”they leave people grieving and searching for hope,โ€ said Josh Holland, vice president of BG-RRT Global. โ€œEven in the midst of lifeโ€™s storms, we want people to know that God is a refuge and shelter for those who turn to Him, and that they are not facing this difficult time alone.โ€

Chaplains will arrive Friday afternoon to comfort and pray with those who are hurting and share the peace that is found only in Jesus Christ.

Will you lift up in prayer those who are recovering from injuries and families whose homes have been destroyed or damaged? Please pray also for first responders and our chaplains as they serve these communities.

How A Nation Shaped By Biblical Truth Turned Into A Nation That Has Cast Aside The Influence Of The Church

From its founding, national leadership understood the critical need to recognize God and safeguard religious liberty; it was for this reason that Americaโ€™s third President, Thomas Jefferson, wrote a letter to the Danbury Baptists, who were being persecuted by the state of Connecticut. It was from this letter that the words โ€œbuilding a wall of separation between Church & Stateโ€ย were first mentioned. Today, the words โ€œseparation between Church & Stateโ€ย have been stripped of all their original meaning. The phrase intended to prevent the government from stifling the church has been warped to insist that the churchย must be stifledย from exerting any influence in government and the direction of political culture.
