The storm could not have come at a worse time for Mike. But the tornado seemed like an answer to prayer for his family. They had been praying for decades that he would surrender his life to Jesus, and the storm had seemed to open his heart toward God. Talking to our team made him start to wonder: “Why would these people go out helping people? Is this God doing this?” he asked.
Extreme summer heat across southwest Europe has ignited uncontrollable wildfires, scorching over 190,000 acres and forcing 330,000 people from their homes. Officials in Spain have declared it a national emergency—the first of its kind—as the blaze continues to threaten communities.
“We thank God that there have been no reported deaths from the storm, but it damaged many homes and businesses in the community,” said Samaritan’s Purse President Franklin Graham on Facebook. “Pray for these hurting families.”
Samaritan’s Purse President Franklin Graham was in Venezuela on Tuesday, July 21, to encourage families in the coastal city of La Guaira in the wake of June 24 back-to-back earthquakes that left thousands of people dead, injured, and displaced. “We want the people of Venezuela to know that God hasn’t forgotten them. He hasn’t turned His back on them,” Graham said during his visit to our Emergency Field Hospital. “God loves them. He cares for them.”
Flash flooding has killed at least two people, inundated homes and businesses, and turned farmland into lakes. Torrential downpours last week dumped about two feet of rain on southwest Texas just a year after catastrophic flooding killed over 130 people a couple of hours north.
Our country was founded 250 years ago on the principles of “life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.” But so many Americans today are struggling with feeling unfulfilled, depressed, or anxious about the future. Only a relationship with Jesus Christ can bring true, lasting peace to their hearts. That’s why this fall, Will Graham will preach the Gospel in each of the 13 original U.S. colonies from Sept. 15 to Oct. 30. Each stop along the way will include music, a message of repentance and faith, and a call to pray for our nation.

“We need to pray for families in Colorado who have lost their homes, been evacuated from their communities, or are still in the path of the Aspen Acres wildfire that has raged across nearly 100,000 acres,” said Samaritan’s Purse President Franklin Graham on Facebook. “Fires are devastating—there is usually little left of a person’s belongings when they are able to return home. Samaritan’s Purse is responding to Pueblo County, CO, to help families sift through the ashes of what was their home. Pray for those who have lost so much and for our teams as we share the hope of Jesus Christ.”
