Franklin Graham: We Are ‘One Minute To Midnight’—Not On Climate Change, But On God’s Prophetic Clock

Franklin Graham earlier this week responded to the excessive focus on climate change seen at the G20 Summit, in which world leaders like Boris Johnson claimed the world was “one minute to midnight” on climate catastrophe.

“The G20 Summit’s big focus was on climate change,” Graham said. “If we have an unusually warm summer, they say climate change is to blame. If we have a harsh winter, it’s due to climate change. If it’s wetter than normal, it’s climate change. If it’s dryer than normal, climate change.”

Graham pointed to Biblical accounts which provide examples of events that changed the normal pattern of the climate. He explained that changes in the climate are nothing new and are controlled entirely by God.

“Climate change is nothing new—the Bible records it over 4,000 years ago,” he stated. “God brought His judgment on the wickedness and evil that had overtaken the world through a great flood [Genesis 6-8]. It rained for 40 days and 40 nights and springs burst forth with water, flooding the entire earth and destroying all mankind—except for one man, Noah, who the Lord found righteous, and his family.”

“Another example of climate change was in Egypt after Joseph‘s dream, there were seven fat years of plenty and seven slim years of drought and famine, not just in Egypt but also in the known world around them [Genesis 41],” he continued.

“Another time, God shut up the heavens for 3 1/2 years in Elijah’s day and allowed no rain to fall [1 Kings 17-18],” he described. “I don’t know what the G20 would have blamed that on, but God created the heavens and the earth.”

The evangelist went on to underscore that, according to the Bible, the world is nearing the return of Christ and the Judgment of God, not apocalyptic ramifications resulting from climate inaction as many at the G20 espoused.

“Boris Johnson said we are ‘one minute to midnight’ as it relates to climate change. I believe we are one minute to midnight—not regarding climate change, but on God’s clock, when He will bring judgment on those who have rejected Him and His Son, Jesus Christ. I’m often asked if we are getting close to the return of Jesus Christ. No man knows the day or the hour [Matthew 24:36], but I believe we are getting close. You’d better be ready,” he urged.

In a separate post, Graham stated that world leaders pretend to care about climate change while their interests really lie “in power, prestige, and money.” Adding that the whole world, including many in the churches, need to stop pretending and start genuinely giving their lives to Christ before His soon return.

“Jesus said He’s coming back and when He does, it will be to rule the earth, and He has given us signs to watch for in the Bible,” he wrote.

“How should we be ready? There are three things God requires: First, that we confess and turn from our sins—that’s called repentance. Second, that we, by faith, accept Jesus Christ as our Savior—that He was born, He died on the cross to pay the penalty for our sins, was buried, and God raised Him to life on the third day. Third, that we follow Him as Lord of our lives, in obedience to His Holy Word,” he concluded.

The Modern State Of Israel Tests The Church’s Commitment To Biblical Truth

Over the last 1,500 years, anti-Semitism in the name of Christ has inflicted much pain and suffering on the Jewish people. And the church wonders why so many Jews distrust the church and reject Jesus. We are in a battle for biblical truth. Does the church accept God’s Word and live by it—including the Jewish Scriptures and the admonition to bless Israel—or does it not?

After 47 Years Of Evil, The Mad Mullahs Have Finally Run Into A US President Determined To End Their Terror Empire

This seems to be this demonically inspired regime's last chance. After 47 years of games, double talk, and deception, the mad mullahs have finally run into a U.S. president who is determined to end their terror empire. You could argue that he already has. The regime is now a shell of what it once was. Even if it manages to hang on to power when the dust settles, it's living on borrowed time. That's what happens when a strong leader faces down evil and does not blink.

Abandoning The Duty Of A Shepherd: Should Pastors Speak About Politics From The Pulpit?

When a pastor preaches about what God has to say in His Word about gender, intimacy and marriage, sanctity of life, parental authority, stewardship of resources whether personal or societal, defending one’s family, threats of false doctrines and religions, etc., they are not being “political” but Biblical. Speaking on such topics does not imply that a pastor has an agenda; it simply means they are faithfully fulfilling their duty to proclaim the truth on such matters which God has laid out in His Word.
