Beneath The Surface: The Spiritual Battlefield Surrounding The Nation of Israel

John Rodrigues

It was a geopolitical shift that left political analysts and casual observers alike absolutely stunned. President Donald Trump—the man whose entire public persona and political brand was built on unyielding strength, masterful negotiation, and the fame of The Art of the Deal—returned from highly anticipated high-level talks with Iran bearing a completely changed tune. The defiant, aggressive tone that had defined his approach to foreign policy for over a decade seemed to have vanished; everyone noted it. He appeared defeated, deflated, and even humiliated.

In a staggering reversal, the self-proclaimed master negotiator gave in to virtually every demand of the Iranian regime. What the world witnessed was not the art of the deal; it was the art of the kneel. How does a man of such immense worldly confidence suffer such an absolute, sudden collapse of resolve?

The answer does not lie in the realm of political strategy, economic leverage, diplomatic maneuvering or even secular psychology. President Donald Trump stepped into a room to negotiate a political contract, completely unaware that he was stepping onto a spiritual battlefield of an intense, ancient war. Because he was unequipped, unprepared, ‘in the flesh’ for a spiritual battle, he was utterly overwhelmed by his adversary.

Tragically, this shocking political capitulation is identical to a more devastating spiritual crisis currently sweeping through the culture and sadly, the church; it’s a well-documented crisis, but a drum that needs to continually be beat.

Across the country, Bible-believing Christians—you and I—are waking up to a heartbreaking and bewildering discovery. People in our immediate circles, i.e. friends, family members, small group leaders, long-term church attendees, and Pastors whom we never imagined would falter—are turning their backs on foundational biblical truths. Specifically, they are joining the growing multitude that is abandoning the nation of Israel.

What makes this trend so deeply alarming is that many of these individuals are doing so completely unaware – they have unknowingly become caught up in the great downstream current of the end-times apostasy … what the Apostle Paul labels the “falling away”: “Let no one in any way deceive you, for it will not come unless the apostasy comes first, and the man of lawlessness is revealed, the son of destruction” (2 Thessalonians 2:3).

These folks never imagined themselves getting caught up in a spiritual deception of this magnitude. In fact, in a twist of profound irony, the deception is so absolute that they now look at us—those who stand on the literal, unconditional covenants of God regarding Israel—as biblically illiterate fools. They genuinely believe they have achieved a higher level of moral and intellectual enlightenment, completely blind to the reality that they have, and continue to, drift away from the Truth and reality.

When you engage these individuals in discussion, a distinct and troubling pattern emerges. Their opposition against Israel is entirely devoid of sound theological defense. They do not argue from an exegesis of Scripture; in fact, they completely bypass the Word of God. However, they know one statement and echo it frequently: “the church has replaced Israel”.

They also echo mainstream media talking points or construct impassioned cases against Israel for alleged geopolitical atrocities, and they do so entirely without verifiable evidence. If you press them for facts, documentation, or historical context, their arguments quickly reveal a house of cards. It is not that Israel is a perfect nation, nor that the IDF is a perfect military. Rather, many of the accusations driving people’s outrage against Israel have been accepted without actual proof.

So how has our adversary taken hold of so many? The pattern is tragically clear: people are steadily feeding their minds with bad theology instead of the Word of God; listening to discredited internet personalities instead of sound teachers; dwelling on podcasts instead of biblical messages; and messaging on social media instead of praying.

In many cases, these individuals were once incredibly sharp, discerning, and (seemingly) biblically literate people. Yet, by opening their minds to these deceptive streams, they have abandoned themselves to the wiles of the devil.

The Apostle Paul explicitly warned Timothy that a day would arrive when people would no longer endure sound doctrine, but would seek out teachers who merely tickled their ears, actively turning away from the truth to turn aside to myths (2 Timothy 4:3–4). We are watching this tragic trajectory play out in real time within our own communities.

As Lessons Of History Are Ignored, It Has Never Been More Important For America To Remember The Consequences Of Deadly Ideologies

Thanks largely to mass migration, an Islamo-Communist now leads our largest city and financial capital. Mamdani manages to combine the two most deadly ideologies in history—Islamism and Communism—which together have killed countless millions of people. Communism alone claimed over 100 million victims in the 20th century in places like Mao's China and the Soviet Union. Yet, the young Americans who have turned out in recent months to vote for Socialists and outright Communists in places like New York, Seattle, and Washington, D.C., don't seem to remember any of this.

Supreme Court Upholds Protection Of Biological Reality In Sports: ‘A Man Does Not Have A Legal Right To Compete Against Women’

The Supreme Court heard oral arguments for both cases in January, and Tuesday's long-awaited ruling sparked widespread celebration among female athletes, parents, coaches and other advocates who have long fought to preserve fair play. Organizations like Alliance Defending Freedom (ADF), which represented defendants in both cases, applauded the “massive Supreme Court victory for women’s sports.”

Thomas Jefferson’s ‘Separation Of Church And State’ Never Meant Keeping God Out Of Government

In context, it’s clear this wall of separation was not created to keep religion out of the State. It was simply intended to protect religious freedom and to place boundaries on the State’s control over the Church. In fact, the United States Capitol served as a church building for seven decades and Jefferson himself was a regular attendee. He attended so faithfully that he earned a reserved seat. On the Sunday after he wrote the letter to the Danbury Baptists, he attended church services at the still-under-construction Capitol.
