There was a time when the week leading up to Easter would spark reverence and reflection throughout the Judeo-Christian Western world. It’s the most important week on the Christian calendar, starting with Palm Sunday. Therefore, it was very instructive to see how prominent left-wing figures across the West spent this Palm Sunday weekend.
Canada
Let’s start with Canada, where the House of Commons just passed a new hate speech law (Bill C-9) that would remove protections for Christians who speak out on biblical grounds against very unbiblical behaviorsโlike the transgendering of children. The bill will likely pass Canada’s Senate and be signed into law by far-left Prime Minister Mark Carney.
But if you think Carney is bad, you ain’t seen nothing yet.
I bring you Canada’s New Democratic Party (NDP), the fourth largest party in Canada’s House of Commons. This Palm Sunday weekend, they held their annual convention. It was almost like a skit from Saturday Night Live… but it was all too real.
Here was one of many interesting and very woke exchanges:
Delegate 1: My name is Mastura Tasnim. My pronouns are she/they. I’m from Ontario. Hello, bonjour. As we conduct this convention today and the past two days, right now there is discussions of 10,000 American men and women being sent to Iran, being deployed just to be part of this bloodbath. Canada cannot and will not be part of the legacy of blood that was built in Iraq, in Palestine, and now in Iran. This is a no-question debate. I call this question, Madam Chair. Thank you.
Conference Chair, Adrienne Smith: Your point is quite well made, Speaker. I’ll again thank delegates not to call me Madam Chair or Madame la Prรฉsidence. I’m a non-binary person. My pronouns are they/them/their. Chair is sufficient.
Today’s left summed up in one surreal exchange. You had a so-called โnon-binaryโ person clad in a Palestinian keffieh scarf ranting against the United States and defending Iran’s regime, who was then scolded by her fellow โnon-binaryโ colleague for supposedly misgendering her. All with some COVID-era masking thrown in!
This was not a sitcom or SNL, and it only got more insane from there.
The convention featured special cards that enabled “non-whites” and “non-straight” attendees to jump the line ahead of those awful straight white people. It was equity, or else:
Conference chair: There’s a point of privilege on microphone one, then we’ll go to microphone three. Go ahead, Delegate.
Delegate 2: Yes, hello. I was standing here with my gender equity card before you called on the previous Speaker. That’s my point of privilege, and I would like toโ
Conference chair: I will explain the speaking order, which is fixed, that I cannot amend, which is the pro-con rotation. You can move yourself up a line that you’re standing in.
Delegate 2: I am pro, and I wasโ
Conference chair: We went pro-con, and my plan was to go con. The Speaker at con mic three also has a speaking card.
Delegate 3: Yesterday, this card was used in an inappropriate manner. While I understand in Ontario we note this as equity, even if that, this was also used inappropriately in terms of gender. I want everyone to be mindful that these cards for individuals like myself, who identify as a Black woman, have no value outside of this space.โ
Whatever you do, don’t pull my โequity card!โ Folks, we are just scratching the surface. There were many more exchanges like that from this major political party in Canada.
The NDP also has a new leader, Avi Lewis, who preached full-on communism during his acceptance speech: โOur plan is to Trump-proof the economy by investing massively in Canadian economic independence, using the unmatched power of public ownership to ensure the fundamentals of a good life. A network of public providers for food, phones, and internet. A public housing developer and public construction companies to build millions of non-market homes.โ
So everything is free! The government will provide you with food and housing. Forget private property and ownership. The government will be your master and provider. All hail big government! This is pure, unadulterated communism, championed by a major Canadian political party, and all while a Palestinian flag flew in the backgroundโthere was not a Canadian flag in sight.
Great Britain
It was the same this weekend in London, where a rally featuring the flags of Hezbollah, Hamas, and ISIS waved under gay pride flags that flew above the streets.
It was a perfect snapshot of today’s UK. Feel free to wave any flag you want… except the national flag of Great Britain, the Union Jack. This weekend in London, when a young woman tried to do just that, a police officer was seen in video footage ripping the flag out of her hands and confiscating it.
The great Winston Churchill is turning in his grave!
Canada’s NDP party has got nothing on the Green Party in Great Britain. Their rally in London Palm Sunday weekend was complete with party leaders dancing on stage with men in bondage gear. They shouted out the LGBTQ community and their โMuslim friends and neighborsโ in the same breath, forgetting, it seems, that Muslims in places like Gaza and Afghanistan are throwing gays off the roofs of buildings.
Nothing about this unholy alliance between the left and Islamists makes much senseโother than the fact that both sides want to destroy Judeo-Christian Western civilization.
United States
Which brings us to the United States.
Over the weekend, we saw so-called โNo Kingsโ rallies nationwide against President Trump. Bruce Springsteen and Jane Fonda came out to accuse the president of being a โdictator.โ It was a puzzling label considering that, if Trump were a king or a dictator, they would never be able to speak out publicly or hold these rallies in the first place!
Since we’ve been talking about flags, footage from the โNo Kingsโ rally in New York City featured the good old hammer and sickle, as protesters yelled, โThere is only one solution. Communist revolution.โ Apparently, to the โNo Kingsโ crowd, an actual bloodthirsty communist dictatorship is just fine.
Here’s the good news. While evil is clearly on the march here in the West and around the world, God is also on the march, shining light in the darkness.
