Kenya Floods Kill Nearly 200, Over 100,000 Displaced From Homes

Nearly 200 are dead and more than 100,000 displaced from their homes after heavy rains and thunderstorms led to severe flooding and landslides across Kenya in recent weeks.

Government minister Eugene Wamalwa said Wednesday that the 194 deaths so far have been concentrated in the western part of the country.

“Yesterday alone, we have lost 30 people in a matter of 24 hours,” he told reporters.

Kenya is in its first rainy season of the year. Its second rainy season late last year saw unusually high rainfall after droughts in previous years. More than 120 people died during that period from flooding and mudslides.

In the western part of the country, residents have fled homes now flooded by the River Nzoia.

Government spokesman Cyrus Oguna said on Twitter that over the past three weeks, floods displaced 100,000 people.

Officials are now worried about water levels at two major Kenyan dams, Masinga and Turkwel.

Energy Minister Charles Keter said Wednesday that people living near those downstream reservoirs must evacuate because things are “worsening,” according to Reuters.

“We are asking them to move,” Keter said Wednesday. “Let them not wait for water, because this is historical.”

Security officials already were evacuating residents in high-risk areas.

The floods also destroyed 8,000 acres of rice fields, the cabinet secretary for water and irrigation, Sicily Kariuki, said.

Aid groups worry that the new flooding complicates efforts to cope with both the coronavirus pandemic and the worst locust outbreak Kenya has seen in 70 years.

Save the Children has said the three natural disasters will devastate chances of survival for malnourished children in Kenya and neighboring Somalia and Ethiopia, especially as crops are destroyed.

Government officials are providing food and water to the evacuated from the flooding, in addition to requesting the country’s Health Ministry to provide them with masks as a precautionary measure to prevent the spread of COVID-19. As of Wednesday, 24 people in Kenya have died of coronavirus.

No Matter How Deep The Corruption Runs, Democrats Remain Eager To Defend The SPLC’s Hate Machine

Despite six counts of wire fraud, four counts of bank fraud, and one count of money laundering to finance the hate it was supposed to fight, SPLC’s wrongdoing didn’t give the Democrats a second’s pause. Instead, they launched into a passionate defense of the group that’s spent years embroiled in lawsuits, shady financial dealings, multi-million-dollar settlements for defamation, embarrassing retractions, workplace uprisings, and links to domestic terrorism in court.

As Biblical Christianity Weakens In The West, More People Turn To The Occult To Fill The Gap

As biblical Christianity weakens in America and the West, more people turn to occult practices to fill the gap. People naturally want to worship. If they reject the true God, they often look for spiritual answers somewhere else. This is why we see more interest in astrology, tarot cards, witchcraft, spirit guides, meditation, New Age ideas, manifestation, and the paranormal. Surprisingly, studies show that many people who say they are Christians now take part in practices the Bible clearly forbids.

Prophetic Pieces: As Putin Ups The Ante In The Arms Race, Russia Considers Providing Refuge To Top Iranian Leaders

Prophetic events in the end times right now are casting their shadows over the Middle East like never before. Preparations for the Gog Magog coalition prophesied in Ezekiel 38 and 39 are increasing and intensifying. Written 2,500 years ago by Ezekiel, these chapters prophesy an end-time invasion of Israel led by the nations of Russia, Iran, and Turkey. Two significant developments showcase that the prophetic pieces are falling perfectly into place.
