Gov. Ron DeSantis Recieves Standing Ovation After Telling CPAC To ‘Put On Full Armor Of God’

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis earned a standing ovation after promising to put on the “full armor of God” to fight against leftism.

“It ain’t going to be easy,” DeSantis said about taking a stand against the Left at last weekend’s Faith & Freedom Coalition’s Road to Majority Conference. “You got to be strong. You got to put on the full armor of God. You got to take a stand, take a stand against the Left’s schemes. You got to stand your ground. You got to be firm. You will face flaming arrows but take up the shield of faith and fight on.”

“So, I look forward to joining with you in the battles to come,” he said. “I can tell you that in the state of Florida, I’ll be holding the line, I’ll be standing my ground, I won’t back down, and I have only begun to fight.”

DeSantis received a standing ovation from those in attendance during the remarks, which come as the Florida Republican has continued to gain popularity in conservative circles.

HD Editor’s Note: Why Is This News Biblically Relevant?

DeSantis’ reference to the “armor of God” derives from the Biblical book of Ephesians, in which the apostle Paul in a letter to Christians in Ephesus, writes:

Ephesians‬ ‭6:10-11‬ ‭KJV‬‬ – “Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.”

Although some may critique this comparison between the political left and the “wiles of the devil,” this same chapter in Ephesians underscores that politics and spiritual warfare are inseparably linked:

Ephesians‬ ‭6:12‬-13 ‭KJV‬‬ – “For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.”

The armaments of this Biblical armor are detailed in the remainder of the chapter, including the “shield of faith,” which was additionally mentioned by the governor.

‭‭Ephesians‬ ‭6:14-17‬ ‭KJV‬‬ – “Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; and your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:”

It is especially important to take up this armor described in Scripture, considering the perilous days we are currently living in.

In 2 Timothy 3, Paul outlines what characteristics would be replete throughout our culture in the time prior to the return of Christ. This 2nd Timothy 3 lifestyle is something that the political left, knowingly or unknowingly, actively promotes.

‭‭2 Timothy‬ ‭3:1-4, 8, 12-13‬ ‭KJV‬‬ – “This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God… these also resist the truth: men of corrupt minds, reprobate concerning the faith… Yea, and all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution. But evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving, and being deceived.”

The Impact Of Parents Who Emphasize The Authority Of God’s Word

From the beginning of my ministry, I have given testimony of my parents raising their children to stand on the authority of God’s Word, never knowingly compromise God’s Word, and have a heart for reaching people with the gospel message. I have testified many times of my father’s leadership of my family and how he led us to stand boldly on the Bible’s authority. We all saw our parents’ love for God and His Word and their heart for the gospel. I can’t emphasize the impact our parents had on our lives enough.

When A Nation Forgets That Liberty Is Meant For Service To God, It Loses The Purpose Of Freedom

Exodus confronts every generation with the same call. God delivers people not to independence from Him, but obedience to Him. When a nation forgets that freedom is meant for service to God, it loses the purpose of freedom — and soon, the freedom itself. The words still echo: “Let My people go, that they may serve Me.” The future of our liberty depends on whether we remember the second half of that sentence.
