Falling For The Oldest Trick In The Book: Google Co-Founder Wants to Build AI as a ‘Digital God’

According to tech mogul Elon Musk, for some, such as Google co-founder Larry Page, the ultimate goal of the race to build artificial intelligence is to create a “digital god,” a silicon-based lifeform that “would understand everything in the world. . . . and give you back the exact right thing instantly.” Who would have even thought about discussions concerning a “digital god” just a few years ago? Will this dream become a reality?

Well, since the events of Genesis chapter 3, humans have been trying to create their own gods based on their own wisdom. This was the very temptation that Eve and then Adam fell for—attempting to become their own gods. So, it’s no surprise that their descendants want to do the same thing by crafting a god that, in their view, will solve their problems, answer their questions, and usher in utopia.

But digital AI is developed and programmed by . . . sinful human beings! So, their “god” will reflect that! As we’ve pointed out before, today’s AI, such as ChatGPT, is incredibly biased with leftist ideologies because it reflects the viewpoints of both those who program it and the voices it pulls from to answer questions.

Digital AI makes a sad god—a god crafted by humans and limited in its abilities by what we can create and program. It won’t save anyone, and it won’t turn this world into a utopia because it cannot solve the biggest problem every human being has—sin!

It’s only the one true God who solves our biggest problem. He came to earth in the person of his Son, Jesus Christ, and died on the cross, paying the penalty that we deserve because of our sin. Then he rose from the grave—conquering sin and death—and offers eternal life to all who will put their faith and trust in him.

Don’t put your faith in a puny, man-made digital god who can’t save. Put your faith in Jesus who made us and can redeem us.

Editor’s Note: The Lie Of Achieving god-like Status

In Genesis chapter 3, we read that Satan beguiled Eve, deceiving her into believing that she and her husband Adam would become “as gods” if they defied God’s command.

Eve was not the first to fall prey to the draw of achieving god-like status. We are told by the prophet Isaiah that the fall of Satan and the fallen angels sprouted from Lucifer saying in his heart, “I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north: I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High” (Isaiah 14:13-14).

Although it will ultimately fail, Satan’s 6,000-year-old goal to usurp God will reach its climax during the tribulation period when he will, through the antichrist, demand to be worshiped by the entire world:

Revelation 13:14-18 KJV – “And deceiveth them that dwell on the earth by the means of those miracles which he had power to do in the sight of the beast; saying to them that dwell on the earth, that they should make an image to the beast, which had the wound by a sword, and did live. And he had power to give life unto the image of the beast, that the image of the beast should both speak, and cause that as many as would not worship the image of the beast should be killed. And he causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads: And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name. Here is wisdom. Let him that hath understanding count the number of the beast: for it is the number of a man; and his number is Six hundred threescore and six.”

Pastor Barry Stagner, in a recent episode of The Line Up, explained why many believe that artificial intelligence could play an integral role in the beast system during the seven-year tribulation.

“In Revelation 13 we’ve got some type of lifelike statue erected, an image of the Beast that seems to be alive and there’s a mark associated with his name, the number of his name, and the worship of the Beast. This is consistent with a lot of the things we see going on today and moving in that direction,” Stagner noted. “We know in Revelation 13, that the whole world is going to go after the Beast. All the Earth dwellers, anyone not written in the Lamb’s Book of Life, are all going to be in agreement. They are all going to be on the side of the Beast. A lot of people have been talking about whether it’s artificial intelligence, this image that has life breathed into it, or seems to be lifelike. AI seems to be a pretty good candidate for how that’s going to happen.”

The Clash Of Worldviews: Secular Progressivism Vs Biblical Christianity

To understand the age in which we live, it is important to understand the ideas behind secular progressivism and, more importantly, what its aspirations are. After all, whether the majority of people realise it or not, secular progressivism has the stated goal of organising social life (with or without your consent) toward explicitly chosen goals. Those goals, however, put it in direct conflict with Biblical truth. The major flaw in secular progressivism is its belief that preference trumps truth. Because the maxim of this ideology is that “all preferences are created equal,” any belief which competes with somebody’s “preference” is treated in one of two ways. Either it must be suppressed (usually with the backing of government or media institutions), or it must be branded as a private hobby which is acceptable in the home or inner thought life but not welcome in the public square where others may be influenced by it.

How Allegory Reduces The Bible To Nothing More Than A Work Of Fiction

It is God alone who predicts the future. Prophecy is one of God’s signatures that tells us that we can trust in Him and His Word. It is what separates the Bible from all other religious writings in the world. But if we consistently use allegorical hermeneutics, as Charles Ryrie points out, then in effect what we have just done is reduce the Bible to nothing more than a work of fiction. How tragic! With hermeneutics like that, it is no wonder so many people want nothing to do with Bible prophecy. It is no wonder pastors refuse to preach and teach events concerning the future, and it is no wonder it can be so hard to understand.

Jan Markell: You Can’t Have A Genuine Revival With False Doctrine Raging

I hear a dozen evangelists stating that we are on the verge of a great revival. One self-proclaimed prophet says that a billion souls will come to faith in the coming weeks and months. If my Rapture is imminent, how can there be an imminent revival? Which is it? The Bible does talk about a coming revival. The question concerns its timing. Is it in the coming days, or is it after the Rapture when the “left behind” world realizes they should have listened to believers like you and me, get a second chance, and multitudes come to faith?
