A high school in Oakland, California, is creating a “transition closet” that will allow students to come to school in clothes that their “parents approve of” and change into the clothing of their selected gender identities.

According to a Facebook post from nonprofit organization The Transition Closet:

We are extremely excited to begin our journey in working with Fremont Highschool [sic] of Oakland California … The near future holds transition closet(s) and services throughout the school district for students of the Trans/Nonbinary/Intersex and additional LGBTQIA+ Community Members.

The Post Millennial reported that the concept emerged from Good Shepard Lutheran Church in Fayetteville, Arkansas, to help children experiment with transgenderism without their parents’ knowledge.

The Transition Closet is partnering with Thomas Martin-Edwards — a Spanish teacher at the Oakland Unified School District and founder of the Queer Teacher Fellowship — to launch the project. The social media account Teacher Exposed unearthed footage of the teacher discussing the initiative on TikTok.

“The goal of the transition closet is for our students to wear the clothes that their parents approve of, come to school and then swap out into the clothes that fit who they truly are,” Martin-Edwards explained. 

“And I use the idea that this is like Superman changing in a phone booth. But that idea actually goes a lot further than that. Because Superman isn’t Clark Kent. Clark Kent is actually the disguise,” he insisted. “And when Clark Kent goes into the phone booth, he transforms into Superman, who is really just who he truly is, Kal-El. So this gives our trans students the opportunity to be the superheroes that we know they are.”

The “transition closet” is far from the first example of public schools enabling — or even causing — gender transitions among their students. California mother Jessica Konen, whose sixth-grade daughter was allegedly recruited by teachers and encouraged to change her name to a boy’s name while being told not to tell her mother, began taking legal action against Spreckels Union School District earlier this year.

“Teachers encouraged Jessica Konen’s daughter to change her name to a boy’s name as an expression of her new identity and specifically instructed her not to tell her mother about her new identity because her mother couldn’t be ‘trusted.’ Then, they gave her articles — and required her to read them — on how to hide her transgenderism from her mother,” the Center for American Liberty, which is representing Konen, explained. “Still without Jessica’s knowledge, teachers and administrators created a ‘Gender Support Plan instructing faculty to refer to her daughter by a new name, male pronouns, and to let her use the unisex teachers’ restroom.”

The rising popularity of left-wing instruction in public schools — especially Critical Race Theory (CRT) and LGBTQ ideology — has motivated many parents to seek new educational opportunities for their children. From March 2020 to September 2020 alone, homeschooling rates across the country grew between 5.4% and 11%.

More recently, the United States Department of Education revealed that enrollment in public schools “fell by its largest margin in at least two decades” — a drop representing a 3% loss in enrollment between the 2019-20 and 2020-21 school years.

In a separate video discussing the “transition closet,” the school officials revealed that although clothing in the closet is their main priority, the closet will also include undergarments to bind breasts, ”tucking underwear,” and stuffed bras for male students.

Ken Ham, Founder and CEO of Answers In Genesis, has been vocal about the attempt to indoctrinate and recruit children toward the LGBT lifestyle. 

“This is the world of darkness & another reason why Christians need ask themselves what worldview is being imparted to our children, one of light built on God’s Word or one of darkness built on man’s word,” he recently wrote in social media. “Sadly, most Christians have allowed the darkness of the world to contaminate their kids & we wonder why so many have left the church with an atheistic anti-God worldview. ‘And this is the judgment: the light has come into the world, and people loved the darkness rather than the light because their works were evil.’ John 3:19.” 

Through the Bible, we know that the fight for parental rights is incredibly significant. God gave parents the critical responsibility of raising and guiding their children. By working to strip parents of their right to properly do so, school boards, legislation, and governments are removing the structure God designed for the family.

Like many other issues, it is important to understand that this battle for parental rights is spiritual in nature. Satan is the author of confusion and deception (1 Corin. 14:33, 1 Peter 5:8, John 8:44) and he is patently aware that children are the most susceptible, especially once separated from the protection of parents.

The impressionable and venerable nature of children is precisely why Jesus harshly warned those who attempt to cause them to sin:

Matthew 18:6 KJV – “But whoso shall offend [cause to sin/stumble] one of these little ones which believe in me, it were better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and that he were drowned in the depth of the sea.”
