Christians are under the kingship of Jesus first and foremost, but that does not negate the responsibilities of our earthly citizenship. We can make a difference in our own sphere of influence by being faithful where God gives us opportunities, and if every Christian did that, think how any country would change! We can still pray for God to bless America, but we should specifically pray for God to turn Americans’ hearts back to him and to recognize his authority in all the areas where the culture has increasingly rejected him.

Why don’t I expect anyone to find evidence of alien visitations on earth? It’s simple—I don’t believe ETs exist. Let’s look at this biblically for a moment. The Bible doesn’t address whether aliens exist. But the Bible doesn’t address many questions that I might have (whether I have a spleen comes to mind). When the Bible gives no clear answers to a question, we must use biblical thinking to answer the question.

Since religious freedom has been a hot-button social issue and is more and more frequently covered in secular and Christian news media outlets, we sometimes are asked these questions. Does the Bible address religious freedom, and, if so, what does it say and where? The Apostle Paul (and his traveling companions on various mission trips) is perhaps the most notable example of a biblical figure who suffered religious persecution and also on occasion stood up for his religious liberty. It is interesting that Paul did so in a government that had some similarities to Western nations.

“Would you rather have a living daughter or a dead son?” is the script many parents have heard when they seek help regarding a child who is convinced his true self is not aligned with his biological sex. This statement sends children and their families down a road of hormone blockers, cross-sex hormones, and surgical interventions. But what if this has very little to do with an organic phenomenon of gender confusion but is the result of a deliberate campaign of brainwashing as part of a Marxist agenda?

Some “churches” promote full inclusion of every sexual desire, while others hold fast to what God says about sexuality. But what about the options in between obvious heresy on the one side and the historic biblical position on the other? In the middle, lie the more insidious errors because these positions claim to respect God’s Word, affirming its authority, while saying either (1) the act of homosexuality is sinful, but the identity and desire isn’t or (2) that homosexual “marriage” honors God if it’s a committed monogamous relationship.

Parents and Christian school administrators should ask why they are doing it, what they hope to gain, and if they are aligned with your theological and cultural values. The Rite Journey, though used in Christian schools, has no mention of Christ or the Bible anywhere in their workbook and only passing, theoretical mentions of God. Rather than trusting the discernment of these Christian schools using it as indicating this being appropriate in schools at all, much less other Christian schools, parents need to be aware that when they send their children to Christian schools, programs like these may indeed be discipling their children but not with a biblical worldview.

Who stands to gain the most from this distortion of Scripture? The preachers who use the offerings to fund their high lifestyle. Like an imposter taking a heartfelt letter from a king to his royal subjects and twisting it for evil purposes, prosperity preachers take the Bible and twist it into a tool for abuse.
