Bible Bite: Amidst Satan’s Wiles – Today is the Day of Salvation!

“I had a chance a few years ago to go on a mission to interview a member of the Iranian revolutionary guard who defected to the West and came to Germany. I was there in Germany, I speak German, so I sat with him and I wrote a report. The one thing that he said that was amazing to me, which I must say, I know a lot of things about them, I didn’t know that one. He said to me this: “Everyone from the least of the soldiers to the top commanders are all on drugs.” They’re all using drugs. They’re all being given drugs daily, weekly, monthly. The supply of drugs to the Iranian revolutionary guard is a must for them to do what they do. Full control over them because they need something that you have.

You understand that more and more countries are legalizing drugs. More and more cities are legalizing drugs. If once we used to say, “Say no,” now you say, “Say where.” It’s unbelievable. I want to tell you, the world is being drugged, and they will just do whatever Satan wants. He will just use them as a pawn. It’s unbelievable.

I want to encourage all of you as we conclude it right now, do not push away. Do not reject. Today and now is the day of salvation.”

Bible Bite - Amir Tsarfati, Barry Stagner

The Bible has made it clear that mankind has had an adversary since there were only two people on the earth. He is called Satan, the Dragon, the father of all lies, the wicked one, the destroyer, and on and on the list goes of titles that refer to his utter wickedness.

John 10:10 KJV – “The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.”

Here, Satan is referred to as “the thief” by Jesus Himself. His goal? To steal, kill, and destroy. This tells us that his efforts and tactics can only lead to death and destruction. While his efforts are singular in outcome, they are twofold in application.

First, Satan desires to steal, kill, and destroy the souls of people. It is his single purpose as it pertains to his efforts among the lost. His plan is to distract them and/or distance them from God. He wants the lost to question God’s existence as creator and therefore His authority over creation. Distraction was the tactic he used on Eve in the garden:

Genesis 3:1-4 KJV – “Now the serpent was more subtil than any beast of the field which the Lord God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden? And the woman said unto the serpent, We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden: But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die. And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die:”

There are a multitude of things we could highlight in this devilish conversation, but for our purposes, we need to note that Satan was trying to get Eve distracted from the absolute authority of the word of God by implying it wasn’t exactly true.

Here we are today, millennia later, and Satan is still at it. The reason he has stuck with the same tactic is captured by a familiar adage: “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.” He is still trying to destroy people’s souls by challenging the authority of the Word of God and, like with Eve, the God of the Word. He will use drugs or alcohol to seek to enhance the distraction, and even use drugs in particular to open the minds of people to demonic lies and occultic things.

Hebrews 11:6 KJV – “But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.”

This is “the thief’s” effort toward the lost, to drive and distract them from soul-saving faith that God is and is a rewarder of the diligent seeker. Without faith in God, it is impossible to please Him, and thus identifies the faithless as the unsaved.

What about those who are of faith and believe God is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him? Can Satan steal, kill, and destroy their souls?

The answer is a definitive, NO!

Romans 8:38-39 KJV – “For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

John 10:27-30 KJV – “My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me: And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand. My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father’s hand. I and my Father are one.”

As we see in the temptation of Jesus in Matthew 4 and elsewhere, Satan knows the word of God. He understands fully that he cannot separate the saved from the love of God nor can he snatch any of our souls out from under the redeeming power of the blood of Jesus Christ. So, what is he trying to steal, kill, and destroy in us?

Hebrews 12:1-2 KJV – “Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us, Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.”

Hebrews 12:1 points back to the Hall of Faith recorded in chapter 11 as a number of the great saints of the Old Testament are named. The author also reminds the saved reader that we are among them through Christ Jesus who authored and finished the work, making saving faith a possibility.

What is Satan’s tactic against the saved? Weights and sins that ensnare us. They steal our hope, kill our effectiveness, and the destroy our joy by grieving the Holy Spirit within us.

Hebrews 12:11 KJV – “Now no chastening for the present seemeth to be joyous, but grievous: nevertheless afterward it yieldeth the peaceable fruit of righteousness unto them which are exercised thereby.”

No, Satan cannot have your soul if you are born again! His efforts can, however, have an impact on your life if you listen to him instead of “resisting him, steadfast in the faith” (1 Peter 5:9).

If someone is reading this and has not yet been born again and is entangled with the tactics of the enemy, today is the day to become free from the enemy!

Acts 3:19 KJV – “Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord.”

There is no better way to live than forgiven, with sins forgotten, knowing the reward of heaven awaits you because of your faith and trust in God! If you haven’t experienced it yet, you can today. It’s only a prayer away and it’s very refreshing!

If you don’t know Christ as Savior and Lord, you can simply pray something like this in sincerity from your heart:

Lord Jesus, I agree with your word that I am a sinner, and I agree with your word that you are the only Savior. I ask you to forgive me and wash me from my sins and make me clean. I commit to live the rest of my days for you and am confident, by faith, that as your child, I cannot be separated from your love or snatched from your hand. Thank you, Father, that through Jesus Christ, your only begotten Son, I am now born again. In Jesus name. Amen.

Today is the day of salvation

Even so, come quickly, Lord Jesus.
