A Thank You From Our Editor to a Christian Leader of a Generation

Very few people know this, but over the past three years, I have had the profound privilege of producing graphics for the Instagram account of Jan Markell, the founder and President of Olive Tree Ministries. This was part of my personal ministry.

I would like to publicly thank Jan Markell for the support she has so diligently provided to me personally over these years. In fact, the Olive Tree Ministries team and Jan personally have by far been Harbingers Daily’s biggest supporter during these start-up years.

Jan was for many years the only female voice in the world of eschatology and today she is still widely known as one of the most dedicated and respected Christian leaders of our generation.

Jan formed Olive Tree Ministries in 1982. Then in April of 2001, she started her radio ministry that is now heard weekly on over 900 radio stations across the nation. Without Jan many many people around the world would not have a sound understanding of Bible prophecy or how it applies to our world today.

In Jan’s own words: “When I began Olive Tree Ministries, I ministered in hundreds of churches, home fellowships, women’s groups, and even some men’s groups. Every week I would pile into my small vehicle with a 12 string guitar, sound and audio–visual equipment, books, and a map and head toward destinations large and small. My audiences were enthusiastic as I shared messages focusing on Bible prophecy, Israel, Israel in prophecy, Christ in the Passover, Jewish evangelism, and current events.”

Jan unashamedly and boldly addresses issues that affect every single believer in Jesus, particularly those that feel alone in their longing for the return of Christ. This has made her a shining light in America and around the world. For that reason, I cherished the opportunity to work with her and her team.

In 2019, during the launch of the Harbingers Daily newsroom, Jan provided me with an incredible gift by paying for me to attend her Understanding the Times conference that September.

While there, she arranged for me to have dinner with Pastor Jack Hibbs, Pastor JD Farag, Dr. Robert Jeffress, Eric Barger, Joseph Kerr, and introduced me to Amir Tsarfati of Behold Israel. It felt as though I were living out the parable in Luke 14, being called to sit at a table far above my importance.

As a female in my early twenties, it was especially significant when she encouraged me regarding my personal work in the ministry. She pulled me aside and told me that it is people like myself who are the future. Although I do not believe the Lord will tarry long enough for that to be the case, it touched my heart that she believed the work I am doing to be important.

That trip, as well as the personal relationship, fellowship, and guidance that Jan has shared with me, I value immeasurably.

Although we are moving on, we will still be working diligently through our newsroom to point people to her incredible work in hopes that more people will, through it, gain an understanding of our times.
