Democrat State Rep. Lorena Garcia in Colorado is receiving backlash after likening the Trump Administration’s deportation of criminal illegal aliens to the Holocaust.
Garcia, speaking at a hearing for immigration bill SB 25-276, accused the Administration of “disappearing people” in a similar fashion to what was seen in 1930s Nazi Germany.
“We have been down this road before, committee,” she asserted. “We have seen what happens when an authoritarian government decides to ignore the Constitution, and that resulted in the Holocaust. And to even pretend that there is anything different, then I encourage you to pick up a history book.”
Colorado state Rep. Ron Weinberg, a Republican and grandson of Holocaust survivors, issued a hard-hitting rebuke of Garcia’s statement in an interview with The Daily Signal.
“It’s disgustingly ignorant to what actually transpired in the 1930s,” he stressed. “Having a grandmother who barely survived Auschwitz, her brother being shoved into an oven, and her parents being shot dead in the street in Germany by a tyrannical regime—I can tell you this coming out of her mouth is just ignorance.”
“We came here, and it took my parents 20 years to get their citizenship, and they came legally,” he stated, lamenting that his State has prioritized the passing of bills that “cater to illegal immigrants.”
The Huckabee Post, a publication started by US Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee, highlighted that the context of Garcia’s comments only further underscores the Representative’s ignorance of History.
“Garcia made this statement soon after the ACLU announced in a press release that the Trump administration had deported three children along with their illegal immigrant mothers,” they noted. “Of course, news outlets had immediately twisted this story, leaving out the most important detail; namely, that the children had gone with their mothers because THEIR MOTHERS wanted them to. And if you’ve ever picked up a history book, you probably know that during the Holocaust, in the concentration camps, mothers and their children were typically separated immediately upon leaving the trains—unless they were kept together to go to ‘the showers.’ How ignorant do you have to be, Democrats, not to know what happened to mothers and children during the Holocaust?”
Garcia was not alone in her shameful comparison between Trump’s necessary border enforcement measures and the evil of Nazi Germany. Wisconsin Judge Monica Isham, in protest of another judge in her State who was arrested for helping an illegal immigrant evade ICE agents, recently declared that she would not hold court again until the Trump Administration stops deporting people to “concentration camps.”
During the Biden Administration, tens of millions of illegal immigrants flooded into the United States. This included an operative of the terrorist organization Hezbollah—a proxy of Iran that openly calls for another Holocaust to eradicate Israel and the Jewish people.
Erick Stakelbeck, host of the Watchman Newscast, underscored the dangerous open-border policies of the Biden Administration, which Trump’s team is working hard to reverse.
“Donald Trump has kept his promise; the border is now secure,” he stated. “Illegal border entries and attempts have dropped approximately [99%] since President Trump took office. It has been a dramatic and glorious turnaround at the southern border. However, it is the years of buildup that we have to be concerned about. The ‘saving grace’ is that the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), under Kristi Noem, the new Border Czar Tom Homan, and their teams are working around the clock to purge out the criminals and terrorists who took root in the United States under Joe Biden.”
“The Biden Administration essentially welcomed these criminals and terrorists,” he noted. “It was as if they had a flashing neon sign on the US-Mexico border, which read, ‘Come on in!’ And they did precisely that to the tune of perhaps as many as 20 million people in the span of just four years. It was absolute insanity. More than that, it was evil. Some 13,000 individuals convicted of murder entered the US under Biden’s watch illegally through the border.”
Antisemitism expert Olivier Melnick, last October, warned, “The accusation that Trump is a Nazi has only one objective: to stoke irrational fear.”
“I lost my maternal grandfather to the Nazis when the Gestapo picked him up at our Paris home in the summer of 1942 and put him on a train to Auschwitz, leading to his murder in the gas chambers. For that reason, I believe that I wield the qualifications to tell you who is a Nazi and who is not,” Melnick wrote. “Nazis were bloodthirsty antisemitic violent monsters driven by Satan’s agenda to destroy the Jews entirely. The accusation that Donald Trump is a Nazi or fascist has only one purpose, and that is to scare people.”
