A children’s clothing designer is facing backlash and accusations of criminal child abuse for selling transgender “flattening and tucking underwear” that fits four-year-olds.
Despite the health concerns, the clothing brand, Carmen Liu Kids, boasts that it is the world’s first brand to design such a product for children.
“Each product is here to provide children with the stepping stones to finding themselves, in a supportive, validating experience,” the kid’s section of the UK brand’s website states. “We are here to provide gender expression products for trans girls and non-binary children in aim of finding their true, authentic self.”
Doctors warn that undergarments created to ‘flatten the side profile of the pelvic area’ cause infertility.
“Testicles need to be at a lower temperature, a couple of degrees lower than the body,” the Daily Mail quoted pediatrician Dr. Shiban Ahmed as explaining. “That is why they are in the scrotum, outside of the body. At a young age, if they continue to remain in a high position, the cells that produce sperm eventually die off.’
The Mail reported that the “tucking” underwear is “available in seven sizes – the smallest for those with hips measuring between 58cm (23in) and 61cm, which would include children as young as four. The largest, at up to 97cm, would fit a teenager.”
UK parliament member, Emma Nicholson, described herself as “truly horrified” by the abusive product and charged that its sale amounted to criminal behavior.
“The makers, sellers, and distributors of these items are breaking the Children’s Act and are heavily abusing the NHS health criteria for children,” Nicholson said. “Children have an absolute unbreakable right to health, and these wretched items are against that. I will report them and go to the wire to gain children their rights against this seemingly criminal behaviour.”
Apart from the criminal and severe medical ramifications from the kids “tucking” underwear, some are insisting that the garments also sexualize children.
“The fact that a child is sexualised in this way and their sexual parts are treated according to adult ideas, is abuse of the child,” the founder and director of Transgender Trend, Stephanie Davies-Arai, underscored. “It feels barbaric to actually interfere with a child’s genitals in that way.”
The brand’s trans designer, ‘Carmen’ Liu, responded to the backlash claiming that the company’s critics were attempting to paint transgenders in a bad light amid debate about a “conversion therapy ban” being implemented in the UK.
In the United States, an increasing number of red-state governors and legislators are implementing laws to label the gender manipulation of children as child abuse.
Franklin Graham, in an interview with Tony Perkins, discussed legislation passed in US states to protect children from dangerous gender-affirming care.
“God made us male and female; two men can’t make a child, two women can’t make a child; it takes a male and a female. That’s the way God made us and created us,” Rev. Graham asserted. “For someone to come along and say you can change that if you want… Well, you better talk to God about that because we’re on very thin ice when we start messing with the way God made us and created us.”
“What’s happening, we see, is just wicked. To take a child and try to convince them that they can change and be a girl, they can change and be a boy, and we can give you drugs, and you can have surgery and all of these things… a child can’t comprehend that, and once you start down this path you can’t reverse it,” Rev. Graham said in the interview. “It’s just a wicked thing, and we just need to pray that the church will stand.”
“We need to stand for truth, we need to stand for God’s Word…” he urged.
Ken Ham, the founder and CEO of Answers in Genesis, explained that gender ideology “harms children because it teaches them something that goes completely against God’s good design.”
“Beginning in Genesis, we know that God created “male and female” (Genesis 1:27) and that design was “very good” (Genesis 1:31). Now in our sin-cursed and fallen world (Genesis 3), some people struggle with their maleness or femaleness, and these people need compassion and love. But this does not mean that we should reject God’s design and simply do what feels right,” he wrote. “Emotions—however strong—do not replace the absolute truth of God’s Word. It is God’s Word that must serve as the starting point for our thinking as we lovingly come alongside others and share the gospel of Jesus Christ with them.”
“We need to be proactive in teaching our children to start their thinking with God’s Word,” Ham continued. “The secular world is growing increasingly aggressive in promoting an ethic where everyone does what’s right in their own eyes (Judges 21:25); many young people, even those in the church, are being drawn into this kind of thinking. We need to point our children continually to God’s Word as the firm foundation for determining morality. We can’t simply do what’s right in our own eyes—we are accountable to our Creator!”
