Syrian media reported overnight Thursday that the country’s air defense systems were activated following an Israeli air strike on several targets in Damascus.
Syrian television reported that the defense systems managed to shoot down most of the missiles and that only material damage was caused.
Meanwhile, residents of Gush Dan reported hearing explosions, including in Tel Aviv, Ramat Gan and Givatayim.
Two weeks ago, Syrian media reported that explosions had been heard in and around Damascus.
The Syrian state-owned Ekhbariya TV and state news agency SANA reported that Syrian air defenses confronted an “Israeli aggression” in the Damascus countryside.
The Syrian army said that the air defense systems were activated and most of the missiles were intercepted.”

Jerusalem Post is further detailed that the IDF is currently investigating the cause of the explosions heard from Tel Aviv, writing: “the IDF is investigating whether the blasts were caused by a Syrian surface-to-air missile (SAM). It is possible that the missile was aiming at an aircraft, but flew into Israel and landed in the sea near the coast of Tel Aviv, according to Israeli media.”
Amir Tsarfati of Behold Israel via telegram reported that an “Arab source” is stating, “The bombing of the Israeli Air Force may have targeted depots containing Iranian missiles that arrived a few days ago by air from Tehran and are stored by the Quds Force of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard southwest of Damascus”
Iran has increasingly been advancing those efforts by way of Syria, using the war-torn country to house weaponry to attack the Jewish State, which has resulted in multiple Israeli strikes.
In Isaiah 17, we are told that in the last days, Damascus, the capital city of Syria, will be completely destroyed. Although we are not told how this will happen or by whom, Syria has become a hotbed of activity in the Middle East that those familiar with Bible Prophecy have been watching very closely.
Isaiah 17:1 KJV – “The burden of Damascus. Behold, Damascus is taken away from being a city, and it shall be a ruinous heap.”
Damascus’s destruction could also be a catalyst to the Ezekiel 38-39 war in-which Russia, Iran, Turkey, and others come together from the north, with weaponry supplied by Russia, to attack the Jewish state.
