The battle for artificial intelligence is becoming a battle for geopolitical power, and the infrastructure being built today could prepare the world for forms of control once unimaginable.
For generations, students of Bible prophecy have asked a fascinating question: “How could one individual ever exercise influence over the entire world?”
For most of history, such a system would have been technologically impossible. Today, that statement is becoming harder to make.
Artificial intelligence is rapidly moving from an interesting technological development to becoming a national infrastructure. Governments increasingly view advanced computing capacity much as previous generations viewed oil, nuclear technology, telecommunications, military power, and industrial capacity.
At the center of America’s effort stands an extraordinary undertaking called “Stargate,” and Bible prophecy students should understand what is happening.
What is ‘STARGATE’?
Announced in January 2025, the Stargate Project was created to dramatically expand the computing infrastructure necessary to develop and operate increasingly powerful artificial intelligence.
The original announcement described an intention to invest as much as $500 billion over four years, beginning with $100 billion, to build AI infrastructure in the United States. The initial equity funders were OpenAI, SoftBank, Oracle and MGX, while technology partners included Arm, Microsoft, NVIDIA and Oracle.
This represents an attempt to construct the industrial foundation for the next generation of artificial intelligence. By September 2025, OpenAI said Stargate projects represented nearly 7 gigawatts of planned computing capacity and more than $400 billion in planned investment over three years. Earlier, OpenAI and Oracle had announced plans for an additional 4.5 gigawatts of capacity capable of operating more than two million chips.
By January 2026, OpenAI reported that its first major Stargate site in Abilene, Texas, was already training and serving frontier AI systems, with additional campuses under development in Texas, New Mexico, Wisconsin and Michigan.
Think about what is occurring. We are not simply building better computers. We are constructing an entirely new layer of civilization’s infrastructure.
Whose Artificial Intelligence Will the Rest of The World Depend Upon?
This question is turning AI into a geopolitical competition. OpenAI describes Stargate infrastructure vital for national security. OpenAI explicitly discusses helping nations develop AI infrastructure built on what it calls “democratic AI” principles. That title tells us something important. Artificial intelligence is no longer merely a technology story. Itโs a geopolitical story.
The Nation that Controls AI Gains Enormous Power
Consider what increasingly capable AI systems can potentially influence.
Financial systems. Military intelligence. Cybersecurity. Healthcare. Communications. Transportation. Energy grids. Manufacturing. Surveillance. Education. Government services. Information distribution. The nation, or coalition of nations, that dominates advanced AI could possess an enormous strategic advantage.
This helps explain why nations are racing to secure semiconductor supplies, electricity, data centers, cloud infrastructure, and advanced AI models. The competition resembles previous arms races, but with one important difference: Nuclear weapons primarily represented the ability to destroy. AI represents the ability to analyze, predict, automate, influence, and potentially control. That distinction should command the attention of every serious prophecy student.
‘STARGATE’ is Already Becoming International
The name Stargate initially referred primarily to massive American AI infrastructure. But the concept did not remain confined to the United States.
In July 2025, OpenAI announced Stargate Norway, its first European AI data-center initiative under OpenAI for Countries. The planned facility was designed for an initial 230 megawatts of capacity with ambitions for another 290 megawatts and a target of 100,000 NVIDIA GPUs by the end of 2026.
OpenAI explained its broader strategy by saying countries around the world had expressed interest in developing their own Stargate-like infrastructure. That development deserves attention. The infrastructure powering advanced artificial intelligence is beginning to look less like isolated computer facilities and more like the foundation of an international AI ecosystem.
The Bible Described Global Power Long Before Computers
For centuries, commentators wrestled with the practical implications of Revelation 13. How could anyone regulate commerce across enormous populations? How could individual participation in an economy be monitored? How could authorities identify people instantly? How could financial permission be granted or denied?
The Bible never says artificial intelligence accomplishes these things. We should be careful not to place technology into Scripture where Scripture does not place it. But something remarkable happened. Modern technology has transformed Revelation 13 from something technologically difficult to imagine into something technologically conceivable. That is an important distinction.
AI Changes the Scale of Government
Human governments have always desired information. The problem was processing it. A government could collect millions of records, but humans still had to analyze those records. Artificial intelligence changes the equation. AI can potentially examine enormous datasets at extraordinary speed, financial activity, communications, images, video, location information, behavioral patterns and countless other forms of digital information.
Combine advanced AI with digital identity, biometric identification, cashless payment systems, facial recognition, connected cameras, and enormous databases, and a society begins developing capabilities previous dictators could only dream about. The greatest limitation on authoritarian governments throughout history was manpower. There were never enough eyes. Never enough analysts. Never enough informants. Never enough people to watch everyone.
AI Potentially Changes That Limitation.
Machines do not sleep. Algorithms do not take vacations. Computers can analyze millions of events simultaneously. The issue therefore isn’t simply whether AI becomes more intelligent. The deeper question is: Who controls the intelligence?
The Prophetic Issue IS Control
Revelation 13 describes a system of control, worship, allegiance, and economic coercion. The technology used to administer that system is secondary. The central issue is authority. Who controls commerce? Who controls identity? Who controls information? Who determines who participates in society? Who possesses the ability to exclude those who refuse to comply? Those are prophetic questions.
And artificial intelligence is rapidly increasing the technological ability to answer them.

No generation in human history has witnessed the acceleration of accessible knowledge that ours has experienced. Humanity moved from handwritten manuscripts to printing presses. From printing presses to telegraphs. From telegraphs to telephones. From telephones to radio. From radio to television.
From television to computers. From computers to the internet. From the internet to smartphones. And now from smartphones to artificial intelligence capable of processing enormous portions of humanity’s accumulated information almost instantly. The acceleration is extraordinary. And the infrastructure required to push AI further is exactly what Stargate is designed to provide.
AI Infrastructure May Become as Strategic as Oil
There was a time when global power depended heavily upon access to oil. The coming era may increasingly depend upon access to computing power. Without massive computing infrastructure, advanced AI cannot operate at scale. That means data centers are becoming strategic assets. Electricity is becoming an AI resource. Semiconductors are becoming national-security assets. AI engineers are becoming strategic human capital. And artificial-intelligence models are becoming geopolitical instruments.
The countries possessing these resources could shape the technological rules under which other countries operate. This is why the AI race deserves far more attention from Christians than discussions about whether AI can write an email or create a photograph. Those applications are merely the surface. The deeper transformation concerns power.
Could AI Help Create a Global Governance System?
Imagine a future ecosystem combining: AI-driven surveillance. Biometric identification. Digital currencies. Digital identity. Global communications. Automated financial monitoring. Predictive policing. Facial recognition. Autonomous weapons. Massive databases. Centralized information systems.
Individually, none of these technologies fulfill Revelation 13. Together, however, they demonstrate that humanity is developing something historically unprecedented: the technical capability to observe, identify, analyze, and economically restrict enormous populations in near real time. That should get our attention.
America and China Are Competing for The Future
The geopolitical significance becomes even clearer when we recognize that the United States is not developing AI in isolation. China has enormous ambitions in artificial intelligence, semiconductor development, robotics, surveillance, and military technology. America therefore faces a genuine strategic dilemma.
If the United States slows AI development while competitors accelerate, it could surrender technological leadership. But if every nation accelerates because it fears falling behind, humanity enters an AI arms race where caution becomes increasingly difficult. Every participant begins saying: We cannot afford to be second. That mentality has driven arms races throughout history. Now it is driving the race toward increasingly powerful artificial intelligence. And once again, the question becomes: Where does it end?
Building the Infrastructure Before We Know the Consequences
This may be the most troubling part of the AI revolution. Humanity is constructing systems of extraordinary power while still debating how those systems should be governed. We are building the infrastructure first. We are asking the ethical questions second. We are connecting more of civilization to digital systems.
We are making governments, militaries, and businesses increasingly dependent upon algorithms. We are creating machines capable of making decisions at speeds humans cannot match. And we are doing all of this during a global race in which every major power fears being left behind.
That is a dangerous combination.
The Infrastructure of Tomorrow is here Today
The prophetic significance of Stargate may ultimately have little to do with the project itself. Its significance may be what it represents. Human civilization is beginning the largest expansion of machine intelligence in history. Billions of dollars are becoming hundreds of billions. Computer clusters are becoming enormous AI campuses. Corporate competition is becoming geopolitical competition. Artificial intelligence is becoming national infrastructure. And national infrastructure may eventually become international infrastructure.
The world described in Revelation requires extraordinary coordination, communication, and economic control. For most of human history, the technology necessary to administer such a system simply did not exist. Now it does. This does not mean the Tribulation begins tomorrow. It doesnโt. It does not identify the antichrist. And it certainly does not allow setting dates for Christ’s return. But it should cause every believer to recognize the extraordinary nature of the generation in which we are living.
We are watching humanity construct tools capable of concentrating information, economic power, and decision-making authority on a scale never before possible. Stargate is one piece of that transformation. The AI race is another. Digital finance is another. Biometric identity is another. Global communications are another. Individually, they are technological developments. Together, they are creating something much larger: an infrastructure capable of connecting, and potentially controlling, much of human civilization.
