The U.S.-backed proposal for Gaza has reached a decisive moment, according to a report by Ynet News, with Hamas expected to respond to a plan involving phased disarmament, gradual Israeli withdrawal, and long-term reconstruction in the Strip.
If Hamas refuses, officials warn Gaza could slide toward another round of war.
Under the plan, implementation would be overseen by a joint force made up of Palestinian security personnel and what is called an โInternational Stabilization Forceโ (ISF). But the officials said the ISF team is not expected to arrive in the coming weeks due to the war involving Iran.
Well, here’s my take.
Hamas and the Islamic Republic of Iran have something in common: they won’t give up control without a fight. As idealistic as it sounds that Hamas would relinquish control in Gaza, personally, I don’t believe Hamas has the track record of keeping promisesโthey do, however, have a track record of deceit and death.
And really, I’m praying that I’m wrong.
