The False Promises Of An Economic Utopia: Once Again, The Lies About Socialism Need To Be Exposed

Alex McFarland

It is shocking to think that, come November, the largest metropolitan economy in the world (that of metro NYC) may be in the hands of an avowed Marxist. As Zohran Mamdani inches closer to becoming Mayor of New York, it is equally troubling to view Democratic Party leaders doubling down on their conviction that socialism should be the goal for America’s future.

Americans, again subjected to the Democrats’ sales pitches for socialism, should know the facts. Socialism always leads to authoritarian governments. Idealistic young voters, especially, need to be apprised of the false promises of an economic utopia:

Lie No. 1: Socialism is compassionate; it helps people.

Think about it: Can you name a socialist country that has a higher standard of living for the people? Socialism is not compassionate — it lowers the standard of living and enslaves millions, not just economically but spiritually.

Lie No. 2: Socialism is affordable; “Our economy can handle this.”

One of the most often asked questions is whether or not our economy could handle the programs envisioned by today’s Democrat Party Marxists. Could our GDP actually sustain the trillions of dollars required to pay for socialist programs?

If the government confiscated every penny the wealthiest Americans can make over the next 12 months, roughly $1 trillion, it wouldn’t keep Medicare going even three years. And this doesn’t leave a penny to pay for the endless government programs that the socialists demand must be started — in the name of justice.

Lie No. 3: Socialism is necessary because the rich have created poverty by hoarding all the money.

The pro-socialists have sold their ideology to many naïve Americans through the language of class envy. Commonly promoted by pro-socialist politicians and educators is the idea that some are poor because “the wealthy have hoarded most of the money.” But think about this: Those who earn about $87,000 or higher pay 71% of all taxes.

Lie No. 4: Socialism empowers the citizens.

For people who haven’t studied the implications of a culture that moves more and more toward Marxism, promises of societal empowerment might sound appealing. But imagine chronic, never-ending shortages of products that are the basic needs of life: toilet paper, clothing, and, not to mention, food. Socialist countries leave people in bondage.

Lie No. 5: Socialism hasn’t been tried in the U.S. before. Given the chance, people would grow to like
this system.

The dark record of failure created by socialism/communism/Marxism should convince any thinking person that this is not what we want to impose on the United States of America.

In my book “The Assault on America,” I document that socialist/communal living had been tried and banned some 80 times in the U.S. before 1900. Let’s not be foolish enough to think that an economic system with a 100% failure rate will somehow work here.

Lie No. 6: Socialism is taught in the Bible. The early Christians were socialists.

This is completely false. Those who argue that Christianity is compatible with socialism should read II Thessalonians 3:10. Early Christians did not practice socialism, or some primitive attempt at what we call Marxism.

Lie No. 7: Socialism will put money in people’s pockets.

Margaret Thatcher famously said, “socialism is great until you run out of other people’s money.” Socialism promises some sort of financial instrument in the hands of people, but as their purchasing power goes backward, the poverty level is ultimately increased.

Lie No. 8: Christians should be OK with socialism because it is just and fair

Injustice is not corrected with further injustices. Suppressing rights, restricting what people are allowed to earn, denying workers the right to keep their own wages, and creating a dependency class that looks to the government for building their own destiny — this is not just.

Lie No. 9: Socialism works successfully in other countries.

Youth are told that socialism is based on “need” while capitalism is based on “greed.” Capitalism is criticized endlessly. Let’s hope America doesn’t fall prey to socialist ideology that has never produced positive results anywhere. If New York (and America) goes full-out Marxist, we will feel an irreparable buyer’s remorse.

Lie No. 10: Socialism can co-exist with Christianity.

In a Marxist state, the laws of man always override the laws of God. Leaders in socialist countries always suppress Christianity (because Biblical truth empowers citizen-hostages to break free of Marxist control). As our constitutional, economically free-market, representative republic hangs in the balance, the deadly lies of social media must be exposed.

Biblical Illiteracy And A New Era Of Antisemitism

Israel is the only democracy in the Middle East, and yet the media portrays her as the villain of the world. I believe this is a supernatural hatred that comes from the pit of hell—spiritual warfare against the plan of God and the Jewish people. Questions from some in the church, about the position of Israel as the elected people of God and the return of the Jewish people to their homeland as acts of God, are rooted in Biblical illiteracy.

In-Depth: Our Works Tried By Fire — Understanding The Judgment Seat of Christ

Even as Christians, our works will be tried before God, and He will reveal whether we have acquired gold, silver, and precious stones, or whether we've been building and living for wood, hay, and stubble. All the temporal, worthless works will be burned up and reduced to ash.
