100-Plus Democrats Vote Against Resolution Condemning Anti-Semitic Terror Attack In Boulder

More than 100 House Democrats voted Monday against a resolution condemning the recent firebomb attack in Boulder, Colorado, targeting demonstrators advocating for hostages taken by Hamas during the October 7, 2023, assault on Israel.

The resolution, which labeled the incident an “antisemitic terrorist attack” and criticized the U.S. immigration system due to the suspect’s status as an undocumented immigrant, passed with bipartisan support—205 Republicans and 75 Democrats voted in favor.

However, 113 Democrats opposed the measure, drawing sharp criticism from Republicans.

“House Democrats just sided with terrorists over cops and couldn’t even bring themselves to condemn antisemitism. They’re officially the antisemite and anti-cop caucus,” Mike Marinella, a spokesperson for the National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC), said in a statement.

Meanwhile, the Republican Jewish Coalition shared a list on X of all the Democrats who voted against the resolution, describing their opposition as “shameful.”

The resolution highlights Mohamed Sabry Soliman, who faces hate crime and multiple other charges in connection with the June 1 firebombing in Boulder. Soliman allegedly shouted “Free Palestine” and expressed a desire to “kill all the Zionists” during the attack.

It also notes that Soliman is an Egyptian national who overstayed his visa, stating that his case “demonstrates the dangers of failing to remove individuals who do not comply with the terms of their visas.”

The resolution further expresses appreciation for U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), a federal agency frequently criticized by some Democratic lawmakers.

House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) criticized Rep. Gabe Evans (R-CO), who introduced the resolution, during a press conference prior to the vote.

“Who is this guy? He’s not seriously concerned with combating antisemitism in America. This is not a serious effort. This guy’s going to be a one-term member of Congress. He’s a complete and total embarrassment,” Jeffries said, also labeling the resolution as a “joke.”

House Majority Leader Steve Scalise (R-LA) fired back at Jeffries in a post on X.

“Only radical Democrats would call it a joke to denounce antisemitic terrorism and express gratitude to law enforcement for detaining the terrorist here illegally who perpetrated the Boulder attack,” Scalise said. “Appreciate [Evans] — a veteran and former law enforcement officer – for leading on this important resolution.”

Evans clapped back at Jeffries as well online.

“I served our nation in uniform in the Middle East, as a cop in Colorado, & now as a Congressman,” Evans said on X. “This wildly offensive sentiment from Democrat’s Leader is why antisemitism persists. The Left is unserious about finding real solutions. Condemning terrorism is not a joking matter.”

A Clash Of ‘Worldviews’: DOJ Report Lays Bare The Anti-Christian Bias Pervasive In The Biden Administration

The new report released this week by the Department of Justice’s Task Force to Eradicate Anti-Christian Bias is a wake-up call. The task force, led by Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche, has produced one of the most, if not the most, substantive works of this administration. The report, entitled “Eradicating Anti-Christian Bias within the Federal Government,” lays bare what is at the heart of the Left’s disdain for religious freedom: it is a clash of “worldviews” over abortion, gender ideology, and sexual orientation.
