‘The Divine Feminine’?: New Age Practices, Secular Psychiatry, And The Rejection Of Bible Truth

Pastor Dean Dwyer

In my last article, I focused on Katy Perry’s “space odyssey” and her subsequent interview wherein she spoke glowingly about meditation, the Hoffman Process and the Divine Feminine.  Having covered the Hoffman Process in my last article, I now turn my attention to the “Divine Feminine”.  What is it and why does Katy Perry now feel very connected to it?  Not only did she mention this concept in her interview, but it is also mentioned in her mediocre song “Woman’s World”.  Some of those lyrics read as follows: “Fire in her eye.  Feminine, divine.  She was born to shine.  To shine, to shine, yeah.”

Much like the overall New Age movement, the subculture of the Divine Feminine movement is a patchwork of different systems of belief and practices from many different cultures.  Because of this, it becomes extremely difficult to pinpoint the exact origins of the movement and provide a concise definition of its core beliefs.  However, broadly speaking, the “Divine Feminine” is a spiritual concept that promotes the cultivation of feminine traits which are necessary to balance universal energy.  The concept is based on the idea that each person has both feminine and masculine energies which, when balanced, supposedly create harmony.  Therefore, adherents of this movement believe that the Divine Feminine requires both men and women to connect with this feminine energy.

Some even believe that there is so much chaos in the world because masculine energy has taken over and the world needs to cultivate more feminine energy to bring it back to a state of order and balance.  On this point, take note of these quotes from various websites:

  • “She [the Divine Feminine] is the oracle that the Divine Masculine turns to when he needs to be led, she is the catalyst for mass awakenings, and she brings restoration for generations of ancestral trauma in her family’s bloodline.”
  • “At this present juncture, we are at the point where the Divine Masculine reign is ending and giving way for the return of the Divine Feminine and a new way of life.  In this way of life, the sacred feminine energies flow and unite all bodies of matter.”
  • “The transition is not always smooth as evident by the current events unfolding in our world: global warming, wars over sovereignty, fight for women’s rights in all fields including reproductive, gender and identity battles, and racial tensions to name a few. Finding a balance between the two may become difficult as the Divine Feminine begins to reign.”
  • “Catastrophic floods, droughts and deadly pandemics like Covid-19 are a result of humans working on the uninitiated masculine energy.”
  • “Human beings will now experience the energy vibration of the Divine Feminine.  Regardless of whether you are born in a male body or a female body, you are now exposed to the energy of the Feminine creative force.”

Isn’t it interesting that this movement only speaks about energy in two genders – masculine and feminine.  I don’t see them being harassed by activists who claim there must be 72 divine genders!  But I digress.  For those interested in knowing the traits which supposedly embody each of the divine genders, the Divine Masculine is said to embody action, logic, and strength. It drives goal achievement, rational decision-making, and resilience. On the other hand, the Divine Feminine supposedly embodies nurturing, compassion, understanding, empathy, creativity, and receptivity, contributing to life balance and deeper connections with oneself and others.

But talk of the Divine Feminine and the Divine Masculine are not just fringe concepts – they also made their way into secular psychiatry.  Carl Jung (whose dangerous ideas I have exposed previously) was a psychiatrist and psychotherapist who considered that all humans have a contra sexual component to their personality which for men he called a female anima and for women a male animus.  In 1950 when Pope Pius XII declared the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary to be an “infallible doctrine” the implication (at least according to Carl Jung) was that Mary had been incorporated into the Godhead, therefore becoming divine.  He believed this decision gave legitimacy to his theory – the Catholic Church had now recognised the feminine aspect to the masculine Trinity.

For many women involved in New Age practices, they feel a sense of empowerment in supposedly connecting with the Divine Feminine.  But it is spiritually dangerous given that it is closely aligned with the Hindu kundalini spirit and yoga.  The kundalini spirit is thought of as coiled energy, often symbolised as a snake, which resides at the base of the spine.  Many believe that this energy also moves like a serpent up through the body and is awakened by specific meditation and consciousness techniques.  As one practitioner states: “It starts to move along the chakra system and can unveil a whole new world of balance between the divine feminine and masculine energy that resides within.”  You see, what many people fail to understand is that the word “yoga” means “to join, yoke or unite”.  Practitioners believe that through yoga, your individual consciousness is joined, yoked or united with that of the Universal Consciousness.  One of the goals of yoga is to bridge the gap between masculine and feminine energies, leading to a yoking of the individual consciousness to the universal.  For this reason, it is my sincere conviction that no Christian should be practicing yoga.

For those who hold to these beliefs, the Divine Feminine represents a goddess archetype, promoting self-empowerment and intuition above Biblical truth.  It is yet further evidence of what we already know – the world is blinded by the god of this age.  Many are trapped in New Age practices because they believe the light within it to be true and the wisdom conveyed by it to be practical.  Nothing could be further from the truth.  It remains our prayer that Katy Perry and others like her would flee from New Age practices and embrace the Redeemer, Jesus Christ.

Crafting A False Narrative: The Accusation Of Israeli ‘Occupation’ Is Based On A Deceitful Premise

In the 1960s, after Yasir Arafat was placed in the Middle East as the leader of the newly formed PLO (Palestinian Liberation Organization), propaganda started to spread across the region and soon after, around the globe. Ignoring a long geopolitical history of colonization mostly out of France and Great Britain, the world started to focus on Israel's "colonization of Palestinian land." It would take time for that weed to take root, but eventually it led to further accusations of "occupation." So, what is occupation exactly?

Tax-Funded Marxist Extremism: Federal Court Blocks Florida’s Ban On Racist ‘Critical Race Theory’ In Schools

Of course, Critical Race Theory is racist to the core. Among other issues, it paints all members of disfavored “races” as inherently “oppressors” with unearned “privilege” while portraying members of other races as perpetual “victims” who must overthrow alleged “systemic racism” and supposed “systems of oppression” rooted in skin color.

Called Out From The Culture: The Hope For America Is The Church

I believe that the hope for America is the church—God working through his church. Christians need to live up to their name. As Christ followers, we need to be Christlike. And if the church would be what it was meant to be, then it would change our nation. But let’s localize it. If your church would be what it ought to be, it could change your city. It could change your county, and it could change your state. Let’s localize it even more. If you would be what you ought to be as a follower of Jesus Christ and as a part of the church, then what a difference it could make in your church.
