Christians Are Under Attack Like Never Before, But Much Of The Church Is Sleeping Through The War

The church is under attack like never before. It is under attack around the world. And it is under attack in our own nation. Our culture summarily mocks, marginalizes, and dismisses Christians as lunatics.

Overseas, communists and Islamic terrorists are murdering our brothers and sisters in Christ. It’s enough to cause a Christian to become downright discouraged.

But I have good news for you today: We may lose a battle here or there, but we’re going to win the war. Jesus said the gates of hell will not prevail against the church (see Matthew 16:18).

In ancient times, armies used the military tactic of breaking down the gates of an enemy’s fortress and hitting them with a battering ram. Once inside, they would destroy the opposing army.

In the same way, Jesus is saying that Satan and his forces are unable to withstand or prevent the onward march of the Christian faith.

Don’t misunderstand. I’m not talking about a militant Christianity where we force conversion. Rather, I’m talking about loving followers of Christ seeking to persuade people to turn from their sins, believe, and be forgiven.

After the Japanese military attacked Pearl Harbor, Admiral Isoroku Yamamoto reportedly said, “I fear all we have done is to awaken a sleeping giant and fill him with a terrible resolve.”

I feel, in some ways, that the church today is a sleeping giant. The Devil has declared war on our country. He has declared war on our culture. He has declared war on the church. And he has declared war on our young people. Meanwhile, it seems as though the church is collectively taking a nice, long nap.

It’s time for us to put on the full armor of God. It’s time for us to fight back with the spiritual weapons God has given us.

Does The Fight Over Shariah Law In America Reveal Something Deeper About Our Culture’s Trajectory?

Is the United States Constitution still the supreme law of the land? Should American courts ever recognize a foreign legal system when it conflicts with constitutional rights? Are these merely political questions, or do they reveal something deeper about the direction of our culture and the prophetic trajectory of the world? These questions have returned to the national spotlight as lawmakers debate legislation designed to prevent the application of foreign legal systems that conflict with constitutional protections. While the immediate discussion centers on Sharia law, the broader issue extends far beyond Islam. It touches on national sovereignty, religious liberty, competing legal authorities, and the growing movement toward global convergence.

How Abortion Buffer Zones In Northern Ireland Are Being Used To Stifle Virtually All Christian Expression

Praying, carrying or reading a Bible, or engaging in pastoral ministry or other religious practice could in some cases be illegal in Northern Ireland hospitals that perform abortions, according to guidance from the Policing Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI). The extent of Northern Ireland’s abortion buffer zone law has raised questions in light of the May conviction of Pastor Clive Johnston, who stood on a public sidewalk near a hospital in the city of Coleraine in 2024 and preached a sermon on John 3:16. Although Johnston made no reference to abortion, the court found him guilty of violating Northern Ireland’s “safe access” law.

Called Out From The Culture: The Hope For America Is The Church

I believe that the hope for America is the church—God working through his church. Christians need to live up to their name. As Christ followers, we need to be Christlike. And if the church would be what it was meant to be, then it would change our nation. But let’s localize it. If your church would be what it ought to be, it could change your city. It could change your county, and it could change your state. Let’s localize it even more. If you would be what you ought to be as a follower of Jesus Christ and as a part of the church, then what a difference it could make in your church.
