Syria Says Israel Struck Near Homs, Tartus In 3rd Alleged Attack In 2 Weeks

The Israeli military struck a number of sites in western Syria in a rare early evening attack on Monday, Syrian state media reported.

According to the Syrian military, the strikes hit targets in the area of Homs in Western Syria and around Tartus, along the Mediterranean coast. One of the targets was located at the Shayrat Airport near Homs.

Syrian state media outlet SANA reported that two Syrian soldiers were wounded in the strikes, which also caused โ€œmaterial losses.โ€

The opposition-linked Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported that the targets were Iranian-controlled weapons caches.

There was no comment from the Israel Defense Forces, in line with its policy of ambiguity regarding its activities in Syria.

This was the third attack attributed to Israel in the past week and a half, and at least the sixth in the past month, marking a clear uptick in the number of strikes allegedly carried out by the Israeli military. According to the Syrian military, Mondayโ€™s attack was conducted at 7:16 p.m., an irregular time for an alleged Israeli strike, which are typically conducted in the early hours of the morning.

According to SANA, the missiles were fired from Israeli jets flying off the coast of Lebanon, north of Beirut. The Syrian military said it shot down most of the incoming missiles, a claim it makes after nearly every alleged Israeli strike, which Israeli military officials and civilian defense analysts largely dismiss as empty boasts.

Last Wednesday, the IDF struck targets using surface-to-surface missiles near the Syrian capital of Damascus, according to Syrian media.

The SANA news agency said the missiles hit sites in the Zakia region outside Damascus and caused โ€œmaterial damageโ€ shortly before 1 a.m. on Wednesday. The outlet gave no details on the targets that were hit, and there were no immediate reports of casualties.

Three days prior, the Israeli military bombed a number of locations surrounding Damascus in a rare daytime strike, according to Syrian media, reportedly targeting advanced weapons heading to the Hezbollah terror group and other Iranian proxies.

SANA said those strikes were also carried out using surface-to-surface missiles fired from northern Israel, and that explosions were heard in the countryside surrounding the Syrian capital.

The United Kingdom-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, a pro-opposition group of unclear funding, said that raid killed at least five pro-Iranian fighters and wounded others. The nationalities of the people killed were not immediately known.

Israeli officials have expressed increasing concern over the proliferation of Iranian-made surface-to-air missile systems in Syria, as well as the Syrian militaryโ€™s improved air defense capabilities, which have made it more difficult for the IDF to operate over Syria.

Israel has carried out hundreds of airstrikes inside Syria over the course of the countryโ€™s civil war, targeting what it says are suspected arms shipments believed to be bound for Lebanonโ€™s Iran-backed Hezbollah terror group, which is fighting alongside Syrian government forces.

Iran has increasingly been advancing their efforts by way of Syria, using the war-torn country to house weaponry to attack the Jewish State, which has resulted in multiple Israeli strikes.

In Isaiah 17, we are told that in the last days, Damascus, the capital city of Syria, will be completely destroyed. Although we are not told how this will happen or by whom, Syria has become a hotbed of activity in the Middle East that those familiar with Bible Prophecy have been watching very closely.

As Behold Israel previously explained, โ€œBiblically speaking, a day is coming where the city of Damascus is going to be decimated. The prophet Isaiah stated, โ€œThe burden against Damascus. Behold, Damascus will cease from being a city, and it will be a ruinous heap.โ€ (Isaiah 17:1) As Iranian aggression continues to excel as theyโ€™re hellbent on the destruction of the Jewish state, which in return causes Israel to focus their military power on the city of Damascus, we can see the fulfillment of this prophecy more immanent than ever before.โ€

Damascusโ€™s destruction could also be a catalyst to the Ezekiel 38-39 war in-which Russia, Iran, Turkey, and others come together from the north, with weaponry supplied by Russia, to attack the Jewish state.

Shifting Geopolitical Landscape: Examining The ‘Abraham Accords’ Through A Biblical Lens

Because they are frequently mentioned in the news, itโ€™s likely that many people are aware of the Abraham Accords and generally understand their purpose. However, if you were to ask the average person to elaborate on what it means to โ€œnormalize relationsโ€ with Israel, or what realistically takes place when a country becomes a signatory to the Accords, itโ€™s doubtful that most would be able to confidently answer the question. So, what exactly do these agreements do, and why should we, as Christians, pay attention to them?

Vigilant To Protect: A Pastor’s Responsibility To Call Out False Teachers

I recently watched a minister online. He gave a scathing critique of those who dare call out purveyors of false doctrine. He said we should love our fellow Christians. Paradoxically, he criticized those who criticize others. He seemed intent on inoculating his followers โ€” making them immune to charges of false doctrine against his friends and himself.ย In one sense, the attack seemed pious. Donโ€™t criticize. Michele Bachmannโ€™s Advice To The President: โ€˜Take The Handcuffs Off Of Israelโ€™

Michele Bachmann, a former congresswoman, 2012 Presidential Candidate, and outspoken friend of the Jewish State, advised the President to โ€œtake the handcuffs off of Israelโ€ and enable the nation to handle its own self-defense unencumbered. On the premiere episode ofย โ€œFalling Into Placeโ€ย alongside co-hostย Jan Markell, Bachmann noted that Israel is being strong-armed into absorbing attacks on its nationโ€”something that the United States, if it were in the same position, would never deem acceptable.
