Samaritan’s Purse, in partnership with the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association Rapid Response Team (BGEA-RRT), has deployed to central Indiana in the wake of serious flooding. The most severely impacted areas are in the counties of Marion and Hamilton, where floodwaters damaged houses, closed roadways, and prompted evacuations and water rescues. Our assessment team has been working closely with local emergency management officials and has identified more than 200 homes affected by the flooding.
One of our Disaster Relief Units is already on the ground. Our base is Northview Church, located at 12900 Hazel Dell Parkway in Carmel, Indiana. Day volunteers started work on Monday, Aug. 24.
Samaritan’s Purse teams will mud out flooded homes, remove soiled drywall and flooring, salvage personal belongings, and take any strewn debris or fallen trees to the curb. Serving as the hands and feet of Jesus, we will have opportunities to share the Good News.
