Pastor Jack Hibbs – Devotional: The Best is Yet to Come

When Solomon built the temple in Jerusalem, he spared nothing. It was believed to be the most beautiful man-made structure on earth. It was a most holy place, for it was the dwelling place of God Almighty among men.

Today, the temple is gone and nothing on earth reveals such glory as it once did. But for us as believers in the Lord Jesus Christ, the best is yet to come.

2 Chronicles 9:17-19 KJV – “Moreover the king made a great throne of ivory, and overlaid it with pure gold. And there were six steps to the throne, with a footstool of gold, which were fastened to the throne, and stays on each side of the sitting place, and two lions standing by the stays: And twelve lions stood there on the one side and on the other upon the six steps. There was not the like made in any kingdom.”

If such glorious detail has been recorded about what this temple looked like, then how much more exquisite is heaven’s dwelling place?

Heaven is where you and I will one day reside. But for now, the glorious dwelling of God is the Holy Spirit’s presence within every true believer. The physical ornaments and displays of such a beautiful, earthly temple as in Solomon’s day, only vaguely hints of what the glories of our eternal residence with God will be like.

Be encouraged, dear believer, that as it is written: “No eye has seen, no ear has heard, no mind has conceived what God has prepared for those who love him” – Only unspeakable, unfathomable, unsearchable riches await you as your Mastercraftsman, your Savior, and your Carpenter has prepared for you.

If Religious Liberty Becomes Only A Defensive Battle, We Risk Narrowing The Focus Purely To Survival

Here is the question we need to ask: Is hostility toward religious exercise expanding beyond vandalism and threats — and becoming institutional resistance? We have seen increasing pressure on conscience protections in health care. We have seen faith-based adoption and foster care providers forced out of states for adhering to biblical truth. We have watched regulatory agencies treat religious organizations not as partners in civil society, but as obstacles to ideological agendas.

‘Believe As We Do Or Be Terminated’: Tenn. Teacher Removed After Refusing to Promote Same-Sex Marriage

“Requiring a teacher violate their religious beliefs in order to keep their job is blatant discrimination that violates the Civil Rights Act,” said Cliff Martin, senior counsel at First Liberty Institute. “Our client cares deeply about his students and simply has a religious objection to teaching certain lessons and asked for a simple religious accommodation. The school has sent the message that anyone who has a traditional view of marriage is unfit to teach first grade.”

When A Nation Forgets That Liberty Is Meant For Service To God, It Loses The Purpose Of Freedom

Exodus confronts every generation with the same call. God delivers people not to independence from Him, but obedience to Him. When a nation forgets that freedom is meant for service to God, it loses the purpose of freedom — and soon, the freedom itself. The words still echo: “Let My people go, that they may serve Me.” The future of our liberty depends on whether we remember the second half of that sentence.
