An Israeli cyber official warns of coming cyberwar; Unna: Cyber winter is coming and coming faster than even I suspected.
After several exchanges in cyberattacks with Iran, an Israeli official is now warning that a very serious cyberwar is likely on the horizon โ and it wonโt be limited to the Middle East.
Recent attempts from Iran have included attacks on Israeli water-control systems and national threats to the existence of the Jewish State as a whole.
Head of Israelโs National Cyber Directorate, Yigal Unna, warned that if Israeli officials hadnโt deterred Iranโs recent attempt(s) to attack Israelโs water system, significant damage couldโve taken place. He would state in a live stream interview, โWeโre now in the middle of preparing for the next phase of attacks to come โ because it will come eventually.โ
While a cyber-hacking group has taken responsibility for the most recent hack, the Iranian government has denied any involvement in any of the attacks. Unna built on this, saying, โWe are not attributing or saying anything officially about whoโs behind it. But itโs not a gang, itโs not a cybercrime group. They gain nothing from it.โ
After the most recent hack that came from Iran, Israel warned that preparations were in place for a significant response.
Unna concluded his address referencing other serious attacks around the globe that have happened recently, stating, โCyber winter is coming and coming faster than even I suspected.โ
