Iran’s President Vows To Continue Supporting Syria; Urges Damascus To Confront Israel

Iranian President Hassan Rouhani said Tuesday his country will continue to support Syria, urging Damascus to confront Israel in the occupied Golan Heights.

Rouhani’s website said the remarks came during a meeting with visiting Syrian Foreign Minister Faisal Mekdad.

“The Islamic Republic of Iran will continue its support to the Syrian government and people as our strategic ally and we will stand by Syria until its final victory.”

Rouhani said confronting “Zionist occupiers and terrorism” is the joint goal of both nations.

“Until the liberation of all occupied lands including the Golan, confronting Zionist occupiers,” should continue, said Rouhani.

It was Mekad’s first visit to Iran as foreign minister after he assumed his post in November. He arrived in Tehran on Monday.

Iran has been a key ally of Syrian President Bashar Assad since the beginning of Syria’s civil war in 2011, lending his government in Damascus vital military and economic support.

Iran does not recognize Israel and supports terrorist groups like the Palestinian Hamas and Lebanon’s Hezbollah.

HD Editor’s Note: Why Is This News Biblically Relevant?

With much talk surrounding the US Election’s possible outcome, Iran has become emboldened in the region, banking on a Biden win. The Islamic republic is eager to be rid of President Trump’s immense pressure and sanctions on the terror funding country.

Under a possible Biden administration, Iran will be given incredible leeway to move forward in its efforts against Israel, just as was the case under Obama. Iran has increasingly been advancing those efforts by way of Syria, using the war-torn country to house weaponry to attack the Jewish State, which has resulted in multiple Israeli strikes.

In Isaiah 17, we are told that in the last days, Damascus, the capital city of Syria, will be completely destroyed. Although we are not told how this will happen or by whom, Syria has become a hotbed of activity in the Middle East that those familiar with Bible Prophecy have been watching very closely.

Isaiah 17:1 KJV – “The burden of Damascus. Behold, Damascus is taken away from being a city, and it shall be a ruinous heap.”

Damascus’s destruction could also be a catalyst to the Ezekiel 38-39 war in-which Russia, Iran, Turkey, and others come together from the north, with weaponry supplied by Russia, to attack the Jewish state.

America has seen many changes over the last 250 years. Through the tumultuous storms of war and the shifting sands of culture, our country has navigated countless trying times. While our current struggles suggest that America has lost its way, the foundational values embedded into the fabric of this nation stand the test of time. The Founding Fathers dreamed of a place where all people could live in true freedom. This could be possible only in a country built upon Biblical values. Billy Graham once said, “America has probably been the most successful experiment in history. The American Dream was a glorious attempt. It was built on a religious foundation. Its earliest concepts came from Holy Scripture.”

You see, people want content creators to be honest, but the concept of honesty comes from a Biblical worldview, which most people in our culture today reject.
