Supreme Court Overturns Roe V. Wade: Seven Trusted Christian Voices Respond — Praise God and Keep Fighting

The intimidation of the US Supreme Court worldwide by the progressive left proved itself ineffective on Friday when the Justices made the historic and long-awaited 6-3 decision to overturn the court’s 1973 ruling on Roe Vs. Wade.

“We hold that Roe and Casey must be overruled,” Justice Samuel Alito wrote in the 5-4 majority opinion. “The Constitution makes no reference to abortion, and no such right is implicitly protected by any constitutional provision, including the one on which the defenders of Roe and Casey now chiefly rely—the Due Process Clause of the Fourteenth Amendment.”

“Roe’s defenders characterize the abortion right as similar to the rights recognized in past decisions involving matters such as intimate sexual relations, contraception, and marriage,” the court opinion continued, “but abortion is fundamentally different, as both Roe and Casey acknowledged, because it destroys what those decisions called ‘fetal life’ and what the law now before us describes as an ‘unborn human being.'”

The court decision is an answer to prayer for Christians who lamented daily for the 63 million+ lives lost to abortion in the last 49 years since Roe V. Wade. Although Friday’s ruling does not eliminate abortion in the United States but rather turns the issue back over to be decided by individual states, the declaration that abortion is not a constitutional right and the precedent the court has set is highly significant.

“The Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization opinion sets a clear new precedent for the rights of states to protect all unborn children,” the Washington Stand reported

Alongside Alito, the majority opinion was joined by justices Clarence Thomas, Neil Gorsuch, Brett Kavanaugh, and Amy Coney Barrett. Despite ruling alongside the other conservative justices, Chief Justice John Roberts decided against joining the court’s majority opinion.

Christian leaders are celebrating today’s Supreme Court decision to overturn Roe V. Wade while imploring Believers to remember—the fight is far from over.

Franklin Graham

Speaking with Fox News Digital, Franklin Graham, son of evangelist Billy Graham, commended the Court’s decision while calling on Christians to continue praying as abortion is turned over to the states.

“The United States Supreme Court just announced one of the most significant rulings in my lifetime — officially voting to overturn the 1973 Roe v. Wade decision because it was ‘egregiously wrong from the start,’ as stated by Justice Samuel Alito,” Graham stated. “Roe v. Wade, passed 49 years ago, has resulted in the deaths of over 63 million innocent children in this country.”

“Sadly, this decision is not an end to abortion — it pushes the battle back to the states,” he stressed. “My prayer is that every state will enact protections for children in the womb and that our nation will value life and recognize the rights of our most vulnerable.”

Ken Ham

Ken Ham, the Founder and CEO of Answers In Genesisurged believers to use the court’s ruling as an opportunity to present people with a “Biblical and scientific perspective” in defense of life.

“The court’s momentous decision, while it doesn’t outlaw abortion, has given Christians a timely teaching moment as each state will now be considering its own laws regarding abortion,” he explained. “This is an opportunity to present the powerful message that from both a biblical and scientific perspective, life begins at the moment of fertilization.”

“Abortion destroys a human being, someone who is ‘fearfully and wonderfully made’ (Psalm 139:14) and created in the image of God (Genesis 1:27). It is murder—a child sacrifice to the ‘god of self,’” Ham underscored. “As we show in a powerful pro-life exhibit in our Creation Museum, being pro-abortion is often the outgrowth of accepting an evolutionary philosophy, one that believes humans are merely animals in the process of evolution and they can be discarded like spare animals that are euthanized in animal shelters.

“As all 50 states now consider their own laws on abortion, education on this vital issue is needed now more than ever,” he reiterated.

Pastor Jack Hibbs

Jack Hibbs, the senior Pastor of Calvary Chapel Chino Hills, discussed the overturning of Roe V. Wade in a video and suggested that this decision may have been why God set up Donald Trump to be in the office of the Presidency.

“It’s possible that what you just saw today in the news regarding the Supreme Court’s decision may be the very reason why God put President Trump into office, chang[ing] the nature of the court by putting in Gorsuch, Kavanaugh, and Barrett,” Hibbs stated. “Today is a historic day.”

“It is my prayer that God is starting to move in America. We don’t yet, but we know this: We need to celebrate good news when we hear it and when we see it,” he emphasized. “Today, the Liberals, the progressives, Nancy Pelosi, are freaking out. And any day that those who I mentioned are freaking out, it is a good day for people who want to see life be lived, freedoms upheld, the law followed, and our founding documents leading and guiding us as a republic. “

Mike Pompeo

Christian and Former Secretary of State under the Trump Administration, Mike Pompeo, took to social media to remind pro-life Americans that this does not conclude the fight to protect unborn life.

“Prayers answered. SCOTUS votes YES to life in its landmark reversal of Roe v. Wade. Those who believe every life bears the image of our Creator must now persevere in our fight to save the unborn,” Pompeo wrote on Twitter.

“I applaud the SCOTUS decision to overturn Roe v. Wade today. This is not the end of the fight to save the lives of the unborn,” he asserted. “We owe it to them to joyously defend this most fundamental right — the right to life.”

“The Lord is good, our Constitution stands,” he added.

Tony Perkins

Tony Perkins applauded the court for repenting of its previous decision and expressed his hope that America would rebuild “a culture of life.”

“Today the Supreme Court yielded to the actual words of the Constitution and overturned the atrocity of the Roe v. Wade decision of 1973, once again allowing states and the Congress to pass laws upholding the sanctity of human life,” he wrote

“While we are grateful that the tyranny of Roe has ended, we are mindful of the solemnity of this moment,” Perkins empahasized, “What the Court has done is an act of repentance out of which we bring forth the fruit of repentance, rebuilding a culture of life in America.”

Pastor Barry Stagner

Pastor Barry Stagner, the senior pastor of Calvary Chapel Tustin, in a video insisted that, while we celebrate the ruling, it is only the Gospel that will end the moral battle surrounding abortion.

“The reason I think we need to keep focused on our cause [and] not sit back and act like we have won the battle [is] because the battle for us is not the legal battle—The battle for us is the moral battle,” he highlighted. “We need to stay the course and continue to tell people about the Lord because, really, that is what matters. That is what changes people’s hearts and minds.

“Should we celebrate this? Absolutely, anytime we can put up a stumbling block in front of taking the life of a human child [is a good thing],” he insisted. “The Lord has a great passion for children, and we should too.”

“We should, without question, celebrate today’s Supreme court decision, but we can’t let it be a distraction and take us off our path. Our path is to bring people to Jesus Christ,” Stagner reiterated, “and that really is what is going to change this whole debate and this issue—He is the Lord, Creator of all life.”

Cissie Graham Lynch

Cissie Graham Lynch, the host of the podcast Fearless – Fearless Faith In A Compromising Culture” and daughter of Franklin Graham, gave all the glory to God for the death of Roe V. Wade.

“Roe is dead and no longer the law of the land. Roe was a decision by a handful of Justices in 1973 that resulted in 60 million deaths and a divided nation,” she wrote on Facebook. “Since Roe passed, the United States has become one of the worst countries in protecting our unborn babies. Today, the majority of the Supreme Court Justices had the courage to reverse what the court did wrong in their overreach 50 years ago.”

“Today, we celebrate and give God all the glory,” she proclaimed. “But, we still have a battle ahead of us and the work that is needed is great. We need to pray for our divided nation to heal, and that truth, grace and compassion will rise. ‘Let this be recorded for a generation to come, so that a people yet to be created may praise the LORD.’ Psalm 102:18”

A Biblical Worldview — The Sanctity of Life

To those who hold a Biblical worldview, the sanctity of life is critically important. God’s Word teaches that, from the moment of conception, human beings are made in the image of God (Genesis 1:27). Furthermore, the killing of innocent human life “pollutes” a land, according to Scripture, and represents a profound “loss of natural affection” within a society (Psalm 106:38, 2 Timothy 3:1-3).

Deuteronomy 30:15-16,19 KJV – “See, I have set before thee this day life and good, and death and evil; In that I command thee this day to love the Lord thy God, to walk in his ways, and to keep his commandments and his statutes and his judgments… I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live.”

Denying The Jewish People’s Connection To Jerusalem Would Be Laughable… If So Many Nations Didn’t Believe It

In December 2017, U.S. President Donald Trump decided to implement the Jerusalem Embassy Act of 1995. He recognized Jerusalem as the official capital of the State of Israel, which calls for Jerusalem to remain an undivided city, and ordered the federal government to relocate the U.S. embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem—a move timed to help celebrate Israel’s 70th birthday. The UN General Assembly then countered with the “Status of Jerusalem” resolution—which passed 128 to 9, with 35 abstentions—denying the Jewish people’s connection to Jerusalem and the Temple Mount.

Global Tensions Expose The Vast Contrast Between Human Hope And God’s Promises

In the Bible, hope is closely connected to waiting. Not waiting in the sense that we are still uncertain about the outcome, but steadfastly waiting because we fully expect the outcome God promised in His Word. In other words, man’s definition of hope carries doubt. God’s does not. As such, Biblical hope is a sure foundation upon which we may base our lives, believing that God always keeps His promises.

Prophetic events in the end times right now are casting their shadows over the Middle East like never before. Preparations for the Gog Magog coalition prophesied in Ezekiel 38 and 39 are increasing and intensifying. Written 2,500 years ago by Ezekiel, these chapters prophesy an end-time invasion of Israel led by the nations of Russia, Iran, and Turkey. Two significant developments showcase that the prophetic pieces are falling perfectly into place.
