Real Impact Survey Reveals Californians Are Being Deceived About Proposition 1… Trusted Pastor Warns Pulpits— ‘Silence Is Approval’

Breanna Claussen

A radical amendment to California’s Consitution is heading to the ballot box this November. The referendum, known as Proposition 1, seeks to permanently enshrine boundaryless abortion in the state.

Although many Californians may be ignorant of what this dangerous amendment entails, a new survey conducted by Real Impact and Rasmussen Reports shows that the majority of Californians are not in favor of limitless abortion, as politicians, the media, Hollywood, and activists would have you believe.

The survey’s findings include:

  • 1
  • 2
  • 3
  • 4
  • 5
  • 6

The telephone and online survey, released on Tuesday, August 23rd, found that a mere 13% of Californians share Proposition 1’s extreme stance that abortion should be legal up to the moment of birth. And yet, 66% of California voters say that they support Proposition 1, demonstrating a profound lack of awareness of the amendment’s ramifications.

What Is Proposition 1?

Formerly known as SCA 10 and introduced by California Senator Toni G. Atkins on June 8th, Proposition 1 states that:

“The state shall not deny or interfere with an individual’s reproductive freedom in their most intimate decisions, which includes their fundamental right to choose to have an abortion and their fundamental right to choose or refuse contraceptives.”

“Gavin Newsom’s radical liberal government is trying to sneak past the people of California a constitutional amendment that would pave the way for abortion without limitations,” Jack Hibbs, the Founder of Real Impact and Senior Pastor of Calvary Chapel Chino Hills, warned. “Proposition 1 on the 2022 ballot—which places no limits on abortion—is way too extreme even in a state where the majority say they are pro-choice. I believe abortion should never be enshrined in our constitution and allowing late-term abortion is especially evil.”

Real Impact, whose stated mission is to “educate, equip, and encourage Christians to have a godly influence on our society and culture,” on July 22nd, held a Townhall event discussing the critical need to combat Proposition 1.

Although California had preemptively put laws on the books to codify Roe V. Wade, prior to it being overturned on June 24th, Karen England, Executive Director of Capitol Resource Institute, stressed at the Real Impact Townhall that the terminology contained within Proposition 1 makes it powerfully more dangerous.

“What [Proposition 1] does—it goes further in using terminology called reproductive freedom,” she explained. “This would enshrine late-term abortion in the constitution, and because this is done via the ballot, no future legislature can come put any limit on abortion, because the people would have voted that we have full reproductive freedom. So no limits whatsoever in the future can ever be put on abortion in California with future legislatures.”

“Any minor boundary that might be [currently in place], is going to be fully removed with Proposition 1. It will be endless, boundaryless, limitless abortion all up into the moment of birth for everyone, including others coming to the state,” England revealed, adding that all of this will be done on the taxpayer’s dime.

Real Impact will be hosting a second Townhall event this Friday, August 26th, to further discuss how we can defeat Proposition 1 and its “devastating attempt to add abortion up till birth to the California Constitution.”

The event will take place 7 PM PDT at Calvary Chapel Chino Hills and will be available to watch online. Speakers at this upcoming event will include Real Impact Executive Director Gina Gleason and Kristan Hawkins, President of Students For Life.

Time To Speak Up, Time To Educate

The survey conducted by Real Impact and Rasmussen demonstrates two critical realities: One — Pro-Life Californians are far less alone on the issue of late-term abortion than they were previously led to believe. Two — There is an urgent need to educate the state’s population on Proposition 1 because, despite the majority being opposed to its limitless abortion, Californians are falling prey to a campaign that is hiding the truth about its severity.

“The thought of terminating the life of a viable baby who is ready to take his or her first breath is abhorrent to most Californians,” Real Impact asserted on Tuesday. “We must speak up. We must inform others so they can speak up. Every voter must know the truth about this Proposition.”

“Powerful people are actively campaigning to pass Prop 1 and guarantee that this ‘right’ to unlimited, late-term abortion is enshrined in the CA Constitution,” they underscored. “However, TOGETHER, we can organize and spread the truth about Proposition 1. We MUST defeat it in November in order to prevent this detestable practice from being guaranteed in CA for many years to come.”

During July’s Real Impact Townhall event, the speakers reiterated that informed Californians are going to need to actively and diligently work to counter the propaganda surrounding Proposition 1.

“Because of those first few words in the Proposition, we have a clear understanding of what it is they’re actually trying to do,” Gina Gleason described. “They’re going to raise millions of dollars to lie to the public, to confuse the public, but we, all of us, are going to do our best to make sure that the public knows.”

Listen Up Churches — ‘Silence Is Approval

“We need to speak the truth in love, but we need to have the answers for them and the reality of it. I think that we really do have a chance to defeat this proposition,” Gleason said, highlighting that “the churches are the key.”

“The churches are going to be there to provide information to their congregations and maybe they don’t have to provide all the details that we just provided here today, but there’s a lot that they can do,” she urged. “But they need to speak up.”

The other speakers, Karen England and Zonya Townsend, a Pro-Life Activist and Pregnancy Care Center nurse, agreed.

“I think that the churches need to do exactly what this church [Calvary Chapel Chino Hills] is doing, and that is speak the truth and have courage,” Townsend insisted. “You know, one day we’re going to be accountable to our Creator and we’re going to be standing before Him. I don’t want to stand there thinking I didn’t have the courage. I care more about what God has to say.”

Sadly, the Real Impact and Rasmussen study also found that only 44% of professed “evangelical Christians” believe the Biblically documented truth that life begins at the moment of conception. There is no doubt, that this is largely a result of Pastors who are ashamedly silent from their pulpits.

“I would probably say leave the church if they won’t say anything about this,” Karen England suggested. “I would question whether or not you’re at the right church.”

“It is not a political issue, life is a Biblical issue,” she reasoned. “Just because politicians have gone and taken it, does not make it not a Biblical issue. The issue of the giver and taker of life is clearly a Biblical issue and our churches need to be talking about the whole counsel of God—there is justice too, it isn’t just love your neighbor.

“If we got every church to have 50 to 75 percent turnout on this, that would do it,” she added, “but it’s up to us to get them to do it and so this is the call.”

Pastor Jack Hibbs, pulled no punches when he addressed the need for boldness among pastors regarding Proposition 1, writing on Telegram: “Pastors are called to save lives in the name of Jesus. Acting timidly and refusing to speak loudly on the side of life is unacceptable. In fact, silence is approval.”

In an article written by Hibbs earlier this year concerning AB 2223 (a Bill that seeks to greatly expand the permissible timeline for killing a baby after birth), he stressed the vital importance that Pastors and individual Christians not stand idly by.

“Corruption. Decay. Putrefaction. Rot. The stomach-churning odor of a pus-filled wound. That’s what comes to mind when I think about California’s current moral trajectory,” he wrote. “The Golden State has become the Gangrene State, with each new day revealing a heightened level of wickedness and putrescence.”

“There’s almost a fatalistic attitude that compels us to sit on the sidelines and watch the dumpster fire burn, consoling ourselves with the quippy reminder that ‘Jesus is coming back soon,'” Pastor Hibbs explained. “Yes, absolutely, the signs of the times point us to the imminent return of Jesus Christ. But that doesn’t mean we don’t fight against the evil that is relentlessly encroaching on our state.”

“Jesus didn’t call us to be passive observers of the downfall of good. He called us to be salt (Matthew 5:13),” he noted. “In Jesus’ day — and even still today — salt was used to stop the spread of decay. It’s a preservative. As Christians, we have the sin-halting power of the Holy Spirit living inside of us. Instead of fleeing in droves, we Christians should be concentrating our presence in this center of corruption. Like a shot of heavy-duty antibiotics to an infected area of the body, our job is to counter the disease that is debilitating our state.”

“Evil is the sickness that has a hold on California and Jesus is the cure,” he argued. “We’re the instruments God can use to bring healing.”

“God is in the business of bringing dead things back to life. God is an expert in making lepers whole. God is a professional when it comes to healing. I challenge you to fight for California. I challenge you to pray for California. I challenge you to not give up on California,” Hibbs implored.

In A World Encased In Violence, Prophecy Is The Stabiliser Of Our Faith

God did not provide His Word so that it would simply die in the hands of the spiritually dead. He expected, as evidenced by Habakkuk, that it be shared – particularly that which was warning people of the two paths available – righteousness or wickedness.
