Israel officially opposes Turkey-Libya sea corridor deal

When confronted on a Channel 13 interview with a report that Prime Minister Netanyahu had told Cyprus’ president last Friday that a maritime deal between Turkey and Libya was to be condemned as “illegal”, Foreign Minister Yisrael Katz confirmed that “that is the official position of Israel. But that doesn’t mean we are sending battleships to confront Turkey.”

The deal between Ankara and Tripoli carves out a corridor of maritime boundaries between Libya and Turkey, potentially clearing the way for oil and gas exploration there.

The Israeli government had previously made no public comment on the accord signed last month between Libya and Turkey that maps out maritime boundaries in the eastern Mediterranean.

Greece, which is a close ally of Israel and is at odds with Turkey over a host of issues, called the accord absurd because it ignored the presence of the Greek island of Crete between the coasts of Turkey and Libya, according to Reuters.

Katz, in a television interview, said that while Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan was an adversary, he does not think Israel nor Nato-member Turkey was looking for conflict.

“We have no desire, and Turkey has no desire for a confrontation with Israel,” he said.

If Religious Liberty Becomes Only A Defensive Battle, We Risk Narrowing The Focus Purely To Survival

Here is the question we need to ask: Is hostility toward religious exercise expanding beyond vandalism and threats — and becoming institutional resistance? We have seen increasing pressure on conscience protections in health care. We have seen faith-based adoption and foster care providers forced out of states for adhering to biblical truth. We have watched regulatory agencies treat religious organizations not as partners in civil society, but as obstacles to ideological agendas.

“Requiring a teacher violate their religious beliefs in order to keep their job is blatant discrimination that violates the Civil Rights Act,” said Cliff Martin, senior counsel at First Liberty Institute. “Our client cares deeply about his students and simply has a religious objection to teaching certain lessons and asked for a simple religious accommodation. The school has sent the message that anyone who has a traditional view of marriage is unfit to teach first grade.”

When A Nation Forgets That Liberty Is Meant For Service To God, It Loses The Purpose Of Freedom

Exodus confronts every generation with the same call. God delivers people not to independence from Him, but obedience to Him. When a nation forgets that freedom is meant for service to God, it loses the purpose of freedom — and soon, the freedom itself. The words still echo: “Let My people go, that they may serve Me.” The future of our liberty depends on whether we remember the second half of that sentence.
