Some 405,000 tourists arrived in Israel in September, a 44% increase over 2018 and a 46% increase over 2017.
From January to September 2017, 3.297 million tourists visited Israel, a 13% increase over the 2.917 million who entered the country during the same time period the previous year. Total revenue from incoming tourism in September came to $581 million, and $4.728 billion from the beginning of the year.
Some 356,500 tourists arrived in Israel by air in September, a 40% increase compared with the same month last year and a 41% increase over 2017. Some 48,400 arrived by land in September, a 78% increase over last year and an 84% increase over 2017.
According to Tourism Minister Yariv Levin, “The month of September continues the increase in in tourist entries, with impressive increases and the breaking of new records.”
He said, “We are continuing to develop new markets and acting to preserve the traditional markets.”
According to Levin, “Tourism has become a growth engine for the Israeli economy and a means for improving our image around the world in recent years, and I welcome that.”
Tourism Ministry Director-General Amir Halevi noted, “This is another tourism record, which is indicative of Israel’s attractiveness to tourists from around the world. The Tourism Ministry is acting at all times to continue to break records and continue to develop new products to attract new target audiences.”
