Israel Increasingly Concerned, Frustrated that Biden Admin Will Rejoin Dangerous Iran deal

Media reports in Israel suggest that there is a growing sense of inevitability in Jerusalem over US President Joe Biden’s administration’s stance toward Iran, as it looks set to rejoin the 2015 nuclear accord.

According to an Axios report, National Security Adviser Meir Ben-Shabbat had raised Israel’s concerns with American officials that Jerusalem’s worries were not being given proper consideration as Washington attempts to reenter the deal, according to The Times of Israel.

In response, Israeli officials explained that their American counterparts reinforced the administration’s request for “no surprises,” following a spate of incidents in Iran that seasoned analysts suggest Israel signaled it had a hand in.

The report amplified a feeling of mistrust and a lack of transparency on both sides.

However, despite the difficulties, an Israeli official maintained that Jerusalem still hoped that with direct high-level face-to-face talks it could influence the US position.

“We don’t think everything is lost and as long as we have the opportunity to voice our stance, we are going to try in the hope that we’ll succeed,” the unnamed official said.

The comments came before Israeli security chiefs fly to Washington next week for high-level talks on Iran.

On Thursday, those security chiefs are reportedly slated to meet Israel’s Prime Minster Benjamin Netanyahu, Defense Minister and Alternate Prime Minister Benny Gantz and Foreign Secretary Gabi Ashkenazi

The Israeli delegation is at the highest security levels and includes Ben-Shabbat, Israel Defense Forces (IDF) Chief of Staff, Lt.-Gen. Aviv Kochavi, Mossad chief Yossi Cohen and Military Intelligence commander Tamir Hayman.

Israel’s reticence about the Biden administration’s approach to Iran is legitimate and well-founded; the president telegraphed from the time that he was merely President-elect that he eagerly desired a return to the Iran deal.

In a powerful speech to the United Nations in 2015, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu condemned the Iran Nuclear deal, explaining the incredible danger it poses to Israel and the rest of the world:

This deal doesn’t make peace more likely. By fueling Iran’s aggressions with billions of dollars in sanctions relief, it makes war more likely.

Unleashed and un-muzzled, Iran will go on the prowl, devouring more and more prey. In the wake of the nuclear deal, Iran is spending billions of dollars on weapons and satellites. You think Iran is doing that to advance peace? You think hundreds of billions of dollars in sanctions relief and fat contracts will turn this rapacious tiger into a kitten? If you do, you should think again.

I have long said that the greatest danger facing our world is the coupling of militant Islam with nuclear weapons. And I’m gravely concerned that the nuclear deal with Iran will prove to be the marriage certificate of that unholy union.

Seventy years after the murder of six million Jews, Iran’s rulers promise to destroy my country. Murder my people. And the response from this body, the response from nearly every one of the governments represented here has been absolutely nothing! Utter silence! Deafening silence.

Perhaps you can now understand why Israel is not joining you in celebrating this deal. If Iran’s rulers were working to destroy your countries, perhaps you’d be less enthusiastic about the deal. If Iran’s terror proxies were firing thousands of rockets at your cities, perhaps you’d be more measured in your praise. And if this deal were unleashing a nuclear arms race in your neighborhood, perhaps you’d be more reluctant to celebrate.

Netanyahu’s words have only become more relevant today.

The Prime Minister has praised the former Trump administration for its hard stance on the Islamic Republic of Iran while condemning those who continually refuse to respond to Iran’s blatant violations of the nuclear deal.

If the Biden administration will rejoin this agreement and continue to lift sanctions, Iran will only advance their efforts against Israel.

Iran has been doing this increasingly by way of Syria, using the war-torn country to house weaponry to attack the Jewish State, which has resulted in multiple Israeli strikes.

In Isaiah 17, we are told that in the last days, Damascus, the capital city of Syria, will be completely destroyed. Although we are not told how this will happen or by whom, Syria has become a hotbed of activity in the Middle East that those familiar with Bible Prophecy have been watching very closely.

Damascus’s destruction could also be a catalyst to the Ezekiel 38-39 war in-which Russia, Iran, Turkey, and others come together from the north, with weaponry supplied by Russia, to attack the Jewish state.

Are The Jewish People Being Set Up For The Ultimate Betrayal?

This is the classic set-up right now! A charismatic man is waiting in the wings. He will seduce the “left behind” world, but he will mesmerize many Jews because they are being primed to be told that a benevolent dictator is their best friend and will never betray them--ever.

As Bible-believing Christians we should understand that the Jews have always been and always will be God’s chosen people. Antisemitism is evil, and as leaders and followers of Jesus we must speak out against it loudly and constantly.
