Perkins Calls For RNC Chairwoman To Resign After Announcing Republican ‘Pride Coalition’

Family Research Council President Tony Perkins called on Republican National Committee (RNC) Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel to resign on the Todd Starnes Radio Show Wednesday.

The Christian conservative leader told host Todd Starnes that McDaniel announced the “RNC Pride Coalition” without consulting RNC leadership over the weekend.

“I think it’s time for her to take up something else and leave the party to those who I think can chart a path forward, restore what has been lost, and make sure that the Republicans, the conservatives regain the majority – both in Congress and continue to see victories in states across the nation,” Perkins said.

“I think she needs to step down,” Perkins said. “She has outlived her purpose at the RNC.”

The RNC is “embracing this agenda that is hostile to a large portion of their constituency,” Perkins said, adding that McDaniel is moving in a direction “incompatible” with religious liberty.

“If the Republicans get this wrong they become a Democrat-lite party, and I think they begin to lose immensely,” Perkins explained, “because Republicans disproportionately get their support from social conservatives, they have to be mindful of that and they have to continue to advance a values platform that is consistent with the traditional values that made America great.”

Perkins urged listeners to stop sending money to the RNC and instead support candidates directly or support organizations like FRC that will ensure values are not compromised.

“There are concerns that Christian conservatives are being shoved aside in the party and that is a big problem,” Starnes concluded. “We’ve got to get it together. There’s got to be a way to work together.”

HD Editor’s Note: Why Is This News Biblically Relevant?

Ken Ham, Founder and CEO of Answers In Genesis, responded to McDaniel’s announcement of the republican “pride coalition” and her specific comments that the coalition serves as “a partner to fight for our country’s future.”

“If they want to ‘fight to save the ‘country’s future,” they need to fight for religious freedom & its free exercise, & the truth of God’s Word & the saving gospel–not for sexual immorality,” Ham wrote, adding a verse from the Book of Psalms which reads:

Psalm 33:12 KJV – “Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord…”

Last June, the RNC Chairwoman also came under fire from Republicans and Christians like Tony Perkins, when she tweeted for pride month that “the GOP is proud to have doubled our LGBTQ support over the last four years.”

Tony Perkins in an article published following McDaniel’s Tweet, asked, “has the RNC forsaken real conservative values?”

“A handful of days into this rainbow deluge, the air of LGBT pride [was] so suffocating that people could choke. It [was] plastered across social media, corporate logos, cereal boxes, even big box stores’ pandering displays,” Perkins wrote. “But one place conservatives thought they were safe from all this nonsense was the Republican National Committee. Turns out, their chairwoman is just as happy as anyone to pull on the LGBT jersey.”

“It wasn’t the smartest thing RNC Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel has ever done. At a time when dozens of states are racing to stop LGBT extremism, the last thing any political strategist would advise is pitting yourself against them,” Perkins stated. “Right now, there are few things she — or any Republican — could have said that would have been more tone-deaf and offensive than applauding the woke agenda her base is trying to combat.”

“The reality that McDaniel — and any other Republican tempted to stray on this issue — need to understand is that the idea of ‘fairness’ sounds great in a tweet, but religious freedom is being endangered by extremists who don’t actually want it,” he inisted. “They’re demanding forced acceptance (and punishment for the non-conformists) everywhere from elementary classrooms to corporate board rooms and anything in between. And that’s not going to change no matter how many rainbows the Republican Party flies.”

“So until the RNC gets its act together and decides to represent real conservative values, my advice is this: send your hard-earned dollars directly to candidates who have a track record of fighting for the principles you believe in,” Perkins urged. “Look for men and women who won’t compromise when it comes to free speech, religious freedom, and common sense. We should have no part in supporting organizations that think they can play Eeny, meeny, miny, moe with our First Freedoms.”

Ken Ham, further wrote about the root sin of “LGBT Pride” celebration, stating:

This is just one example of the frenzied celebration of all manner of sexual perversions as individuals, corporations, organizations, and, sadly, even some “Christian” groups trip over themselves trying to be the most enthusiastic in their LGBTQ activism. But what are they really celebrating?

Obviously, on the surface, they are celebrating sexuality identities and sexual diversity—really, what the Bible calls lust and perversion of God’s original design. But that’s not ultimately what those waving rainbow flags in a Pride parade are really celebrating. Their celebration is reveling in the sin at the root of sexual perversions and a myriad of other sins—pride!

Pride is the quintessential human sin—we think we can be our own gods (Genesis 3:5) and do whatever is right in our own eyes (Judges 21:25). It doesn’t matter what our Creator—who designed us, knows what’s best for us, loves us, and died for us—says. To the proud heart, what matters is simply what we want—what sinful, fallible human beings who don’t know everything, are in rebellion against God, and have depraved minds and desires— want. Pride always leads to more sin as we arrogantly think more of ourselves and less of God and his revealed Word. It’s really people shaking their fist at God to declare they are autonomous and can do whatever they want. But . . .

The Bible spills much ink warning against pride. Our culture, and those “Christians” who want to join in celebrating sin, would do well to heed the warnings in the Word of God. (See: Proverbs 16:18James 4:6Proverbs 16:5, Proverbs 8:13Obadiah 1:3, Isaiah 2:11, 1 Corinthians 13:4)

According to James 4:6, God is actively opposing those proudly waving colorful banners and chanting “love is love.” That should strike fear in the hearts of those who have not repented and trusted in Christ, “It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God” (Hebrews 10:31).

But James 4:6 continues, “[God] gives grace to the humble.” There’s grace, freely available, for all who will humble themselves, turn from their sin, and trust in Christ alone for salvation. You see, Jesus died in our place, taking God’s just wrath against sin for us, and freely offers forgiveness and eternal life to proud sinners of all kinds: “but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us” (Romans 5:8).

In Romans chapter one, Paul warns against the sin of homosexuality and, more specifically, the celebration of it as a rebellion against God.

It is this reprobate mind that our society has fallen into, not in the celebration of sins alone (such as homosexuality, abortion, etc.) but also the attempt to force everyone, no matter their convictions, to celebrate and/or participate in such sins.

The Bible tells us that the world in the last days would be like it was in “the days of Lot” (Luke 17:28). In Lot’s day, God destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah, chiefly for the sexual immorality and homosexuality that the cities were given over to (Genesis 19Jude 1:7).

‘Young People Have Been Experimented On’: Scotland Pauses Puberty Blockers for Minors

“The consequences of this scandal will play out for decades. You cheered it on. You did all you could to impede and misrepresent research. You tried to bully people out of their jobs for opposing you. Young people have been experimented on, left infertile and in pain.”

No, The IDF Didn’t Throw Gazans Into ‘Mass Graves’… But Will That Stop The World From Believe It?

Unfortunately, these accusations against Israel, though easily proven untrue, are often lapped up globally by antisemitic activists. Like their predecessors throughout history, the irrationality of the claims leveled against the Jews rarely matters.
