Patience, Faith, And Obedience: Recognizing That God Can See What We Can’t

There was once a daring escape from a Nazi war prison. The inmates had dug a tunnel, but it surfaced twenty feet short of the cover of a wooded area. So, they waited until a moonless night and sent one man into the woods to watch for the time when the guard turned his back. The prisoner was to pull on a piece of string that ran from the woods down into the tunnel, letting the next prisoner know it was safe for him to emerge. One by one, the men felt the tug of the string and surfaced, running into the safety of the dark woods.

Unfortunately, the guard heard a sound and walked over to near where the hole was located. He didn’t see the opening but stood by it for some time, looking suspiciously around the area. Time seemed to stand still for the next prisoner who was waiting underground for the tug on the string.

Suddenly, the man lost his patience. He could stand it no longer. He moved forward, then up and out of the hole in the dark. It was the last thing he did. The guard swung around and fired on him with his machine gun, filling him full of lead.

We can learn from that man’s fatal mistake. His error was threefold. He lacked patience, faith, and obedience. If only he had trusted the one on the other end. If only he had obeyed the instructions given to him, he would have found his freedom. Instead, he lost his very life.

The Bible tells us that we inherit the promises of God through “faith and patience” (Heb. 6:12). There are times when a Christian asks God for something, and there is a delay. But he doesn’t lose patience. He hangs in there. The One holding onto the string can see things he can’t, and He knows what is best for him. The Bible says, “Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding” (Prov. 3:5).

It Is A Serious Misjudgment For The Modern Church To Disregard What God Has To Say About The Future

The study of “last things” (eschatology) seems to have fallen out of favor in many corners of the modern church. With a dismissive reference to no one knowing the day or hour of Christ’s return, many Christians assume that studying eschatology is not something most churches, or even individual Christians, really need to take seriously. I repeatedly hear students in my classes claim that Scripture is too unclear on the details or timing of the Rapture, or whether Christians will go through the Tribulation, or the nature of the Millennial Kingdom, to make studying these things worth their time. Is studying eschatology largely irrelevant to our walk with God?

The Brazen Power Grab Of Radical Court ‘Reform’: Why Term Limits For Supreme Court Justices Are Unconstitutional

As designed by the Framers, life tenure for Supreme Court justices has worked well for more than 230 years and is an essential component to ensure judicial independence. Judicial term limits would destroy one of the hallmark features built into our system of government. When calling for judicial term limits, the far Left and their politicians do what they frequently do: play fast and loose with the text of the Constitution. Virtually every time they do not like what the Constitution or one of the Court’s opinions says, they try to change the rules and disguise extreme changes as “reform.”

Michele Bachmann’s Advice To The President: ‘Take The Handcuffs Off Of Israel’

Michele Bachmann, a former congresswoman, 2012 Presidential Candidate, and outspoken friend of the Jewish State, advised the President to “take the handcuffs off of Israel” and enable the nation to handle its own self-defense unencumbered. On the premiere episode of “Falling Into Place” alongside co-host Jan Markell, Bachmann noted that Israel is being strong-armed into absorbing attacks on its nation—something that the United States, if it were in the same position, would never deem acceptable.
