A recent article by the New York Times presents a new spin on what constitutes a heartbeat in an effort to discredit “heartbeat bills” in pro-life States such as Texas.
The argument by NY Times, which may soon emerge as a prominent talking point by Democrats, claims that what republicans perceive as a heartbeat in an unborn child is not a beating heart at all. Instead, the author refers to the baby’s heart as “a primitive tube of cardiac cells that emit electrical pulses and pump blood,” which they insist does not constitute a “heart.”
Pro-Life advocates hinge their argument on the “enchantment” and “emotion” of to-be-parents mesmerized by sounds heard “throughout an ultrasound scan” rather than science, the NYT author asserted.
Steven Ertelt and Micaiah Bilger, authors for LifeNews, slammed the New York Times for its attempt to persuade its readers through “scientific revisionism.”
“This new terminology is not based on facts or scientific evidence,” they explain. “It’s based on an agenda that supports abortion on demand. ‘Embryonic pulsing,’ for example, is such a vague description that it is hard to understand precisely what it means. And it appears to have been used that way on purpose.”
“The only way abortion advocates and the liberal can justify killing babies in abortions is to take away their humanity,” the LifeNews authors underscored. “Because if unborn children are truly just clumps of cells instead of unique human beings then abortion is no big deal.”
“The abortion industry is anxious to hide this information from mothers,” the LifeNews authors continue. “With new details about unborn babies being discovered every year, it’s becoming increasingly difficult to claim that they are not valuable human beings who deserve a right to life.”
There is a long history of people using the tactic of dehumanization, to manipulate and justify inhumane atrocities. Two prime examples are found upon examining slavery and the holocaust, in both cases dehumanizing the victims was a key component used to make the population accept their wicked treatment of human beings. The same tactic is used against babies in the womb.
Furthermore, the New York Times alleges that the “disputed” heartbeat is only the tip of the iceberg regarding unscientific policies by conservatives.
The examples of these so-called unscientific policies, however, truly border on the ridiculous. One of the most ludicrous claims, provided by the New York Times, states that it is wrong for physicians to be required to warn women about the dangers of abortion because having an abortion, they insist, is “far safer than being pregnant and childbirth.”
Another assertion by the author is that the mental health of women is not adversely affected by the deadly procedure, instead the emotion most prominent in ladies post-abortion, they claim, is a feeling of “relief.”
In reality, numerous studies have shown the extreme dangers abortion poses to women’s physical health and the emotional turmoil that often results from ending the life of their pre-born children.
“The New York Times disguises the truth and attempts to manipulate the public into believing something different from what they know to be true,” Ertelt and Bilger maintained.
For Christians, arguments surrounding when an unborn child develops a heartbeat should be largely irrelevant. Life begins from the moment of conception, the Bible and science confirms this.
“Arguments from science, such as fetal heartbeat, are wonderful supports of the biblical truth that life begins at the moment of fertilization,” Ken Ham, the Founder and CEO of Answers In Genesis, previously explained, “but they should never be the ultimate standard. God’s Word should always be our ultimate standard for truth, even when it comes to the question of abortion.”
“Humanity is not determined by level of development,” Ham wrote. Sadly, that obvious truth is often disputed by our abortion crazed society.
“Believers, let’s stand boldly on our foundation and declare the truth to a culture of death,” he urged. “Human life begins at fertilization; life is precious, made in God’s image; abortion is murder; and God’s grace is freely available to all who will repent and believe.”
