It is difficult to determine just why Mayor Zohran Mamdani wanted to arrest Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu the next time he visits New York City. To the casual observer, it might appear to be a publicity stunt.
In a recent press conference, the mayor called out Netanyahu’s “war crimes” and the “Palestinian Genocide” as reasons for his “legal crusade” against Netanyahu.
According to an article published by the Guardian:
“I believe that prime minister Netanyahu belongs in The Hague,” Mamdani said, referring to the Dutch city that is home to the international criminal court, which issued an arrest warrant for Netanyahu in November 2024 over alleged war crimes in Gaza.”
“He’s a war criminal who has been charged by the international criminal court, and what you will find is that is an opinion that is held by many, purely because of what his actions have wrought over these past many years.”
So, now, the young mayor has entered the international political arena and gone on the record that he believes Israel’s Prime Minister is guilty of war crimes, not to mention others in Israel’s government.
Of course, there is no mention of any real genocides in, say, Nigeria, or even in Iran where the IRGC recently killed thousands of its own citizens.
So, what is the game here? Doesn’t New York have enough of its own problems without its boy mayor trying to take on the “evil Jewish cabal” headed by Israel’s leader? How about rocketing antisemitism across the city, especially on its college campuses? The Guardian continues:
Netanyahu, who faces a tough re-election campaign in October, brushed off Mamdani’s arrest threats in a recent radio appearance, saying he was not concerned. Though Mamdani denies the accusation, Netanyahu also alleged Mamdani supports Hamas.
“He’s with the terror actors,” Netanyahu told New York’s WABC. “And I think the problem is that he doesn’t recognize and he doesn’t care that those who hate the Jews and Israel ultimately hate America.”
Israel’s ambassador to the UN, Danny Danon, accused Mamdani – New York’s first Muslim mayor – of failing to confront rising antisemitism in his city. Mamdani has countered such accusations by noting that he has increased funding for an office to combat hate crimes.
The mayor’s continuing tirades against Israel causes one to wonder if he is running the city or has future political aspirations.
Mamdani isn’t a “one-off” candidate. Instead, it is best to realize that he is a potential trendsetter. He represents a changing dynamic within the world of future Islamic political ambitions. Part of this is his ongoing excoriations of Israel and its prime minister.
Accusations Against Israel’s Prime Minister
Although pretty much everyone knew Mamdani’s threats to arrest Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu once he stepped foot in New York were empty, it didn’t stop the young mayor’s blustering promise to do just that. President Trump countered with a strongly worded statement the very next day denying Mamdani’s threats.
This fast-moving story seems to have mobilized Mamdani’s advisors to block the mayor’s rhetoric because they have now steered him away from his previous public statements, as he now admits he has no power to do so. He then put the onus on the federal government to arrest those charged with war crimes, according to the International Criminal Court filings in the Hague, which has no jurisdiction here in America.
But he has now made his case and if–or more likely when–he runs for future political office, you can bet he will surely revisit this when his influence grows either in state or federal circles.
The Vote
Our research reveals something rather thought-provoking. Mamdani won over a significant percentage of young Jewish voters. Support skewed heavily generational; an estimated 67% of Jewish voters aged 18 to 44 supported Mamdani, contrasting sharply with older demographics who favored Cuomo. This might be a harbinger of future elections, especially considering the future Jewish vote. This implies a split within the Jewish community, something it doesn’t need right now.
Mamdani has made it no secret of his loathing of Israel and its prime minister, as well as accusations of genocide and starvation by Israel in Gaza. He continues to hammer that message to his constituency, even though recent evidence published by the United Nations suggests otherwise. There are even darker implications to his newly found platform, and they don’t end with him.
National Muslim Candidates Around the US Now Empowered and Gaining Confidence
Muslim candidates are making rapid gains across the American political landscape. According to Muslim Network TV, 42 Muslim Americans were elected to public office across the United States in this year’s off-year elections. That said, Mamdani’s election may well generate more of the same and should be a wake-up call to all Americans as this rapid growth of Islamic candidates is not new nor is it going away.
Mamdani may well be the poster boy and template for future Islamic candidacies. But he isn’t alone…but rather seems to be part of a much larger effort to Islamize Western nations.
According to the Institute for the Study of Global Antisemitism and Policy (ISGAP), the Muslim Brotherhood released a 100-year plan in which it openly declares its intent to integrate Islamic ideologies into the American political landscape.
The ISGAP released a report in November 2025 detailing the Brotherhood’s plans including the Doctrine of Takeem, a gradual penetration of American and European society by Islamic thought. Islamic strategists have aligned themselves with Socialist movements across the nation and around the globe. This alliance, seen in both governmental as well as non-governmental organizations is known as the Red-Green Alliance. It is growing and it is not to be ignored. Much good information has been released on this alliance, and it is well worth the time to read it.
Mamdani, a practicing Muslim, is a member of the Democratic Socialist Party. His candidacy displayed the amalgam of both Islamic ideology and Socialism, best shown in the demographic make-up of his supporters. But what got him elected? Was it his belief in Islam or was it his campaign to help the less fortunate? According to a CBS article:
“Mamdani’s message centered around the cost of living, energizing a coalition of young and progressive voters, even as critics questioned his lack of experience and raised concerns about his stance on Israel. He pledged to freeze rents on rent-stabilized apartments and raise taxes on the wealthy to pay for a host of new services, like free buses and city-run grocery stores.”
New York City is an expensive place to live. Mamdani’s campaign figured out an old tried and true approach-promise to lower rents, provide free bus transportation around the city, and appeal to the working poor. The strategy appears to have worked as he won more than 50% of the vote, polling strongly among New York’s youth including young Jewish voters.
It is a strange world we live in when a boy mayor wishes to take down one of the most influential and powerful men on the planet. Is he trying to make a name for himself? Is that his game?
At this point,his legal team has advised him he has no legal right to arrest Netanyahu. But you can bet, in his mind anyway, this isn’t over. Once he has the leverage in future higher office, he may try it again.
