The son of Yechiel ‘Michael’ Leiter, Israel’s ambassador to the United States, remains on life support two weeks after a Palestinian terrorist rammed his car into a Samaria checkpoint.
With his son still fighting for his life, the ambassador stepped away from his bedside to issue a powerful response to New York City Mayor Zorhan Mamdani, rebuking his “dangerous lies” on the anniversary of October 7th.
“It’s actually hard to find a sentence in Mamdani’s post that isn’t a lie,” the ambassador began. “Paying lip service to the victims of October 7 just to spread blood libels about Israel might play nicely to the red-green/communist-Islamist alliance that he promotes in the U.S, but those of us who know better see his perverted language for what it is.”
Mamdani’s October 7th statement, while briefly mentioning the Hamas massacre, focused on “honoring the dead” that he claims were killed at the hands of Israel’s “genocide in Gaza.” The Mayor included distorted figures published by the Hamas-run Gaza Health Ministry, which conveniently fails to differentiate between civilian and militant combatant deaths.
“This man is a defender of Palestinian terrorism, a promoter of antisemitism, and an advocate of anti-Americanism,” Leiter wrote. “Even today, October 7, he can’t help but attack the Jewish state with absurd accusations and outright propaganda.”
The ambassador has been personally impacted by the Palestinian terrorism Mamdani defends, not only due to the vicious attack that critically injured his son Neria Leiter, but also the death of his eldest son Moshe Yedidya Leiter, who was killed in a booby-trapped Gaza terror tunnel 15 days after October 7th.
“Let’s be clear: the only attempted genocide in this conflict was perpetrated by the barbarians he supports, Hamas, who butchered, raped, and murdered in the most horrific ways imaginable,” Leiter underscored. “Hamas knows that its allies, including Zohran Mamdani, will regurgitate its lies, demonizing Israel and endangering Jews everywhere.”
The ambassador has asked for continued prayers for his son’s full recovery, writing: “I believe in the power of prayer, and I believe that when the people of Israel unite, miracles happen. Neria needs a miracle.”
