The Trump DOJ has now secured agreements with at least six major hospital systems now requiring them to stop providing child sex changes, as the Justice Department expands a nationwide investigation into these barbaric practices.
The latest deals, announced Friday, involve NYU Langone Hospitals and the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC). NYU agreed to pay $8.5 million to resolve the DOJ investigation, while UPMC agreed to pay $950,000, bringing the two settlements to a combined $9.45 million. Both hospitals agreed to stop providing puberty blockers, cross-sex hormones and surgical procedures to minors.
The two hospital systems join Mount Sinai Health System, Texas Children’s Hospital, the Cleveland Clinic Foundation and Connecticut Children’s Hospital, which have also reached agreements with the DOJ.
Attorney General Todd Blanche said the settlements send a message to hospitals involved in the practices and alleged fraudulent billing.
“Today’s resolutions send a clear message: hospitals that target children in these practices and then fraudulently obtain payment for the procedures will be held to account,” Blanche said.
The Justice Department said its investigation examines potential violations of federal law, including the Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act and the False Claims Act. The department has also investigated allegations that providers used false diagnosis codes to obtain payments from federal healthcare programs and private insurers.
The investigation follows a 2025 directive from President Donald Trump ordering the Justice Department to prioritize investigations and enforcement actions involving potential federal-law violations related to gender-affirming care for children.
The DOJ has characterized the agreements as part of a broader nationwide investigation and said additional cases remain under review. Assistant Attorney General Brett Shumate said the department’s investigations into other providers are ongoing.
The settlements do not constitute findings of liability. The DOJ states that the claims resolved by the agreements are allegations only and that there has been no determination of liability. NYU and UPMC have denied the allegations.
The agreements have also prompted protests from far-left activists outside NYU Langone.
On Wednesday, transgender activists were filmed injecting themselves with hormones outside the New York City hospital in protest of NYU’s agreement with the DOJ. Video shows protesters filling syringes and administering hormones as demonstrators gathered outside the facility.
“We’re taking our HRT here at the doors of the people who have given up to demystify, normalize, and celebrate our trans bodies in the face of NYU’s cowardice,” one protester said in the video.
