A maritime cargo shipment that typically travels from India to Israel with some other stops, made its first-ever stop along the way in the United Arab Emirates (UAE); Netanyahu: The peace agreement between us leads to collaborations that will bring billions to the citizens of Israel.

Upon the arrival of the first maritime cargo ship carrying items from the UAE to Israel, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated, “A new trade route was opened between the UAE and Israel. The peace agreement between us leads to collaborations that will bring billions to the citizens of Israel. This is especially important during the coronavirus period, so we can help everyone and strengthen the economy.”

The ship that typically follows this particular route, the MCS Paris, from India to Israel usually make stops in several other countries along the way. However, this is the first time they’ve stopped at the UAE to bring goods to Israel, and it’s the first of many. Soon, the shipments are expected to occur weekly. Furthermore, Israel is likely to ship cargo to the UAE as well.

Chairman of the board at Haifa Port, Eshel Armony, called this “a new era in the Middle East.”

Currently, Israeli officials believe that these maritime trade shipments will amount to approximately $4 billion annually.
