Chaplains Deploy to Washington After Severe Flooding

CONTRIBUTING PUBLISHER

More than 100,000 residents in Washington have been forced to evacuate their homes following torrential rainfall, which caused rivers to surge to record levels. Flooding washed out homes, bridges, and critical infrastructure.

In the aftermath of such devastation, the Billy Graham Rapid Response Team (BG-RRT) is deploying crisis-trained chaplains to Whatcom County. Chaplains will minister to families who have been displaced during the Christmas season.

“Our hearts go out to the communities in western Washington affected by this historic flooding, especially as many families approach Christmas without the comfort of home,” said Josh Holland, vice president of BG-RRT Global. “During a time that is usually marked by joy and celebration, many are instead facing loss and uncertainty.

“Our chaplains will stand alongside them, offering prayer and pointing them to Jesus Christ who brings hope, comfort, and restoration in times of trouble.”

Starting Tuesday, chaplains will be there to offer emotional and spiritual care to residents navigating this disaster.

Please pray for all those who have lost their homes to find hope and comfort in Christ. Also ask God to strengthen first responders and chaplains as they care for the community’s needs.

‘A Biblically Defined False Teacher’: Texas Senator-Elect Talarico Compares His Anti-Biblical Agenda To Jesus Christ Flipping Tables

“He’s an actual heretic,” said Josh Howerton, senior pastor of Lakepointe Church in the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex. “A Biblically defined false teacher and heretic.” Politicians have long twisted Scripture to fit their narratives, Howerton noted. What sets Talarico apart, he said, is that “his whole platform is using the Bible to convince Christians to support godless things.” Howerton warned that what progressive so-called Christians like Talarico do is “hollow out your religion and wear it like a skinsuit.” Joseph Backholm, senior fellow for Biblical Worldview and Strategic Engagement at the Family Research Council and Government Affairs Advisor for NC Values Coalition, put the dynamic in sharper focus. Pointing to a speech in which the crowd cheered after Talarico quoted Scripture, Backholm observed: “Christianity is not offensive because of the God we worship. Christianity is offensive because of the gods we refuse to worship.”
